4.0 out of 5 stars I don't get the complaints!!!
I honestly don't get all the negativity here!!! I have used all of the "cheap" brands of coffeemakers over the years - Mr. Coffee, Black & Decker, Braun, etc. I was sick and tired of buying a new one every year, so we invested in this mid-priced Saeco and WE LOVE IT! It confirms the thought that you get what you pay for. We did not experience the "thermos" effect, nothing...

2.0 out of 5 stars Saeco
I purchased this coffee maker as the reviews had mentioned not having that burned taste. This is correct, no more burn taste and the coffee does stay warm for several hours. I love a fresh ground cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes on a cold afternoon I love to make a good cup of coffee.

The pot is a little heavy and if you don't seat the lid right...

We did not experience the "thermos" effect, nothing broke, I do not find this hard to clean either and MOST IMPORTANTLY - the coffee tastes GREAT!!! I do have one suggestion for Saeco - put a water level guide on the exterior. That said, I just used my 2 cup measuring cup & fill it 2 1/2 times and I'm good to go. Is everyone else thrashing this coffeemaker around causing parts to break? We wash ours e/o day (that's how often we have time to make coffee on average) with no problem. My Starbucks finally tastes like Starbucks in the coffee house!! I highly recommend this coffeemaker AND their espresso makers are wonderful too. Well worth the money. BUY SAECO AND YOU WON'T BE SORRY!

4.0 out of 5 stars Great coffee machine, November 23, 2008

This is a great coffee machine. Makes great coffee and keeps it hot. The container is insulated, a bit heavy, but works well. The overall look of the coffee machine is great and stylish.

I purchased this coffee maker as the reviews had mentioned not having that burned taste. This is correct, no more burn taste and the coffee does stay warm for several hours. I love a fresh ground cup of coffee in the morning and sometimes on a cold afternoon I love to make a good cup of coffee.

The pot is a little heavy and if you don't seat the lid right on the carafe it will over flow.

I use the pot between once and twice a day, after 30 days the pot quit working. It would heat the water but it wouldn't process the water up through the lines and into the carafe. For the price I was disappointed. I have used Mr. Coffee, and a Black and Decker each had worked for years and never had either of them break after a month of use. I took it back for a refund and pulled out my old 39.99 coffee pot!!

If you purchase one, you will enjoy the flavor of the coffee, hopefully it will last longer than 30 days!!

Shopped around quite a bit before we bought this coffee maker. Have had it for about 8 months and it does make good coffee and the carafe holds the heat reasonably well. My complaints are that it only makes 8 cups which is smaller than we would like but we knew that going into it. Biggest complaints are that the carafe is very heavy and difficult to clean. In addition, you have to be very careful filling the water basin as it will overflow. The carafe is not designed to allow for filling the water from the carafe and you will need a separate pitcher for that. My biggest complaint however was that the thumb latch release for pouring the coffee broke. We didnt drop it or abuse it, it just broke. I also have had it overflow unto the counter on two occassions as I apparently did not set the pot right before brewing. I would have expected a better design and more durable construction for this price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Flimsy Parts, November 23, 2008

The lid on the carafe of this machine broke on us after only eight months. Compare this to cheaper machines we previously had for years. A new carafe is $60 - more than most run of the mill machines which will last longer (and more than the Consumer Reports recommended Best Buy, which is Black and Decker).

Will not purchase Saeco again. Rip off.

2.0 out of 5 stars good coffee poor design, December 18, 2008
This review is from: Saeco TDCM-CC Renaissance 8-Cup Digital Drip Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
This system makes good coffee when it is not busy overflowing onto your countertops. I have had this for a year and many times over the year it has allowed coffee to overflow out of the coffee basket and all over the countertops, just what you want first thing in the morning when you are going for a cup of coffee. I had to play around with the setting on my grinder to make sure the water did not back up in the coffee basket. I would not recommend this unit at this price.

1.0 out of 5 stars Worst Coffee Maker I've ever owned!, November 29, 2009
This review is from: Saeco TDCM-CC Renaissance 8-Cup Digital Drip Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I am trying to think of something positive to say about this ooffee maker and can't think of a thing other than it does make coffee. It flows over the basket on a regular basis, leaks and drips when you use the drip feature. I just hate the damn thing! I got it because the reviews on Krups and Braun coffee makers were so bad, but there can't be anything worse than this machine!

2.0 out of 5 stars Temperamental--It leaks coffee everywhere, November 4, 2009
By
This review is from: Saeco TDCM-CC Renaissance 8-Cup Digital Drip Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I agree that this coffee maker is nice-looking and makes a very tasty cup of coffee, but I've had the same unfortunate experience as some of the other reviewers--unless the carafe lid is screwed on just right, and aligned perfectly on the base, coffee flows all over the counters during brewing. I've never before encountered an appliance this finicky. I've had the maker about a month now, and it has leaked 4 times. The joy of being able to program it and wake up to a hot cup of coffee is totally killed by having to waste 15 minutes of my morning cleaning up the mess. We got this as a gift so we'll just live with it until we get around to buying another maker. Not recommended.

3.0 out of 5 stars Saeco nice to look at, but an average coffee machine at best., March 3, 2009

This review is from: Saeco TDCM-CC Renaissance 8-Cup Digital Drip Coffeemaker, Black (Kitchen)
I purchased this machine about 8 months or so ago mainly because my old one died and I wanted a stylish machine to complement my espresso maker. The Saeco is definitely nice to look at, but I have mixed feelings about it and am starting to consider replacing it with a more practical machine. It is very difficult to clean and not very well made for the price. I thought one small part came broke with the unit, until I realized that it was just designed that way. :(

Pros: Very nice design and complements virtually every kitchen. Quiet operation. Nice blue LED lights. No water filter to replace and monitor!!! Beeps when done, so you know exactly when it is finished! Nice carafe.

Cons: Hard to clean. Poorly designed lid. Does not get coffee to the perfect brewing temp. Can over spill coffee if the carafe is not PERFECTLY aligned. No water level gauge on the side to tell how much water you have pored into the unit (you have to eye-ball it and guess). Big and bulky and takes up a lot of counter space. Very expensive for what you get, especially since it is not very well made.

3.0 out of 5 stars Good idea but still doesn't avoid "thermos" flavor, October 16, 2008

I have great confidence in Saeco products; we've had one of Saeco's automatic espresso machines for years. I liked the idea of a pot that keeps coffee hot without burning the flavor. Unfortunately, while it keeps the coffee fairly hot and avoids the burned coffee problem, it slightly changes the flavor and making it taste faintly like a thermos. This is true of every other thermal coffee pot I've tried, but I had hoped with the usual quality of Saeco products, that they had found a solution. It's not awful, but if you're very picky about your coffee's flavor, this may disappoint. It's a pretty machine, although the water filling is a bit awkward. It takes a basket rather than cone filter which I think detract from the flavor as well. But the deal breaker is the change to the coffee's taste from being made/stored in a thermal container.
