5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful
We have had our coffee maker for several months now and could not be more pleased with it. We have not had a problem with coffee getting on the counter like another reviewer said was a problem. It makes wonderful coffee and the coffee still steams when poured four hours later. The only down side is that it only makes 8 cups of coffee instead of the usual 12.

3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons
Pros: it looks good; it keeps coffee warm for a LONG time (couple hours--long enough to drink it before it begins to cool); it's fun to have a ceramic pot with company; makes decent coffee.
Cons: no water-level guage--we over filled it several times and it just spills all over; you can't use the carafe to fill the machine with water--without the lid, the carafe is...

3.0 out of 5 stars Pros and Cons, August 4, 2008
This review is from: Saeco XXDCX Venus Limited 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker with Ceramic Carafe (Kitchen)
Pros: it looks good; it keeps coffee warm for a LONG time (couple hours--long enough to drink it before it begins to cool); it's fun to have a ceramic pot with company; makes decent coffee.
Cons: no water-level guage--we over filled it several times and it just spills all over; you can't use the carafe to fill the machine with water--without the lid, the carafe is not designed to pour, which is dumb!; it makes about 6 cups of coffee, not 8.
We like this maker, but will not buy another one once this one goes out. It was expensive for all the cons. However, we enjoy it enough that we're not returning it or cursing it or whatever. :)

I wanted someting that could be cleaned, something with a pot that poured without leaving a mess. It provides that. Filling the water reservoir? Either use the pot with the lid on or fill to the mark on the internal tube and don't go past 8. Like all coffee makers, they assume minature cup - probably 6 oz. With our best cups (not mugs) get a little less than 4 cups from a pot. Pot is very heavy. Overall appears well made, and looks good on the counter.

I just got the Saeco auto-drip coffee maker and I love it. I can definitely taste the difference between the coffee that I brew on this machine and my previous machine (Mr Coffee). I also love the fact that it was much more affordable that the high end coffeemaker that also reaches brewing temperature of 195 degrees AND it matches the decor in my kitchen.

I rate it 4 out of 5 for user-friendliness because I had to read the manual before using it but after reading the manual, the setup was very easy. I can see why some people complained about coffee spillage, this may happen if one does not not align the carafe with the brewer tip or of course if one purchased a defective product but mine worked perfectly.

The pause n serve, thermal carafe and programmable timer functions are great

Overall, I am very pleased with this purchase and I would definitely recommend this product to anyone interested in brewing Starbucks' quality coffee at home.

1.0 out of 5 stars Don't Buy It!, July 1, 2010
This review is from: Saeco XXDCX Venus Limited 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker with Ceramic Carafe (Kitchen)
I have never written a product review but this is the worst coffee machine I have ever purchased so I feel compelled to let others know. My biggest peeve is over the 8 inch plastic tube that delivers water from the reservoir to the part that spritzes it over the coffee. Literally days after the one-year warranty expired, the plastic tube broke (the plastic becomes brittle and degrades). I called Starbucks. They said to call Saeco. I called Saeco and was told that they sell other parts for that machine, but not the little plastic tube. Without the tube, there is no coffee machine. I had to throw the unit away. There are other issues with the machine too, but this alone is a reason not to buy it.

4.0 out of 5 stars Pretty good HOT coffee, April 11, 2010
This review is from: Saeco XXDCX Venus Limited 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker with Ceramic Carafe (Kitchen)
I got this item and was skeptical based on the reviews. I did have a coffee spill over twice and was about to send it back based on nearly burning myself twice.... but WAIT! Not wanting to admit defeat, I realized what was happening. The lid has a little lip. If the lid isn't all the way down, it doesn't make proper contact with the carafe and thus leaks!! Once I figured this out, I've not had a problem. The coffee tastes VERY good and stays HOT for a long time (much longer than my double walled stainless carafe). The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is it doesn't have a removable water reservoir or a float - I think this was silly of Saeco not to include. Otherwise, very happy once I figured out why I had spillage. Would definitely recommend to someone else looking for a great coffee maker.

This coffee maker makes terrific coffee and the carafe keeps it hot for a long time. The problem is getting the coffee to land in the carafe instead of on the counter. We've kept it clean, but it continues to malfunction without obvious cause. I've struggled with this maker for more than a year and I'm finally throwing in the towel and replacing it.

1.0 out of 5 stars Frustrated with this coffeemaker, February 15, 2009
This review is from: Saeco XXDCX Venus Limited 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker with Ceramic Carafe (Kitchen)
I have owned this coffemaker for about a year. I wanted a thermal carafe but have been VERY disappointed with just about every aspect of this coffeemaker. It takes a long time to brew, spitting and sputtering for at least five minutes to brew the last half cup of water. If it isn't positioned perfectly in the base it will end up on the counter. Most disappointing is the quality of the materials. There is a large crack in the plastic outside of the carafe, the handle is now loose and the coffeemaker base has a crack in it. I live alone and am very gentle with this machine so I am attributing it to poor quality. I decided to replace the unit this morning after the lever on the lid broke off when pouring a cup of coffee. That's it! I doubt that I can't get it replaced (purchased at my local Starbucks).

5.0 out of 5 stars Best Coffee Maker I've had in a Long Time., August 29, 2010

Although I don't drink coffee as much as I used to, there are definitely days when I feel like making myself a cup of coffee or two. I got rid of my old hot plate coffee maker when I moved out of my old house, and I was in the market for a new coffee maker. My boyfriend's father highly recommended this coffee maker, and I figured I would give it a try.

I was pleased to see that this coffee maker was affordable for me. Less than fifty dollars for a coffeemaker that originally goes for one hundred fifty dollars? I'm sold. I was also pleased that the coffeemaker was shipped quickly, packaged well, and arrived in perfect condition.

While thoroughly cleaning the coffeemaker, I was pleased to see that it had its own built-in filter. While I don't know if this is common with most coffeemakers, I found this to be a pleasant addition.

So, as for making coffee, I was very happy with my purchase. The instructions were easy enough to follow, and my coffee was ready in no time. While not a coffee connoisseur, I do have to say that my coffee came out tasting really, really good. The thing that made me happiest about this coffeemaker is how long it keeps your coffee warm.

I made myself a pot of coffee at 10am in the morning. For some reason, I had an itching to drink some more of the coffee I made at around 11pm at night. And guess what? My coffee was still warm! And it tasted just as good as it did in the morning! While the ceramic carafe is pretty heavy, I do have to say that it does its job right.

All in all, I have to say that this is a fantastic coffeemaker for an affordable price. :)

Love this coffee maker! What's important is that it makes good tasting coffee and it stays good tasting and hot for a while. The only complaints i have are that you can't pour water from the carafe without the cover on to fill the water tank. It spills all over. The carafe is heavy, but I'm OK with that. You should get one. Really.Saeco XXDCX Venus Limited 8-Cup Automatic Drip Coffeemaker with Ceramic Carafe
