We bought this for our three-year old during our visit to the San Diego Zoo. Looking back, I wish I had looked on amazon first... it cost me a good $4 more at the zoo. The pieces are small, but well-made. My son was excited to have models of the animals that he had previously seen only books and that day at the zoo. Each piece has the name of the animal written at the bottom. The pieces are very durable... for example, the cockatoo has withstood several attempts from our son to bend its wings out of shape (when it is 'flying'). Some of the figures (the human figure and the cockatoo) have difficulty standing on a straight surface, but can be easily made to stand by bending the legs in the appropriate direction. He now plays 'zoo' with these pieces and some of the other figures we bought separately with the human figure as his zookeeper. Overall, a great toy.
