Product Description

From the Manufacturer

Play is the essential joy of childhood. Through play children learn about themselves, their environment and the larger world. At Safari Ltd. We design toys that assist the joy of play. In a highly technical world, the most endangered species is the imagination. Perhaps we should spell that with a capital "I". Without imagination, the individual loses the creative spark. We intend to never let that happen. We hope your child will enjoy many hours of creative play with this hand painted Safarilogy Dinosaur Coelacanth.

Product Description

The Coelacanth is considered the oldest fish known to science. Thought to have become extinct during the Cretaceous period (65 million years ago), two types of Coelacanth were discovered in 1938. Marine biologists believe more types may be discovered. The Wild Safari Dino collection has all the favorites including the Tyrannosaurus rex, Triceratops, Brachiosaurus and many more. Dinosaurs that children love most in a variety of fiercely action packed poses. Each dinosaur replica is amazingly detailed, hand painted for realism and designed to stimulate the imagination. All our figures are sculpted by experts which ensures authenticity. By providing educational information in five languages, we encourage children to learn about these ancient extinct creatures that once roamed our earth.

I carry mine with me wherever I go (it's quite portable), and it shows absolutely no sign of wear at all.

His eye is a lighter shade of blue with the eerie, reflective look of deep sea dwellers.

The Wild Safari coelacanth is, in my opinion, the finest coelacanth on the market today. I carry mine with me wherever I go (it's quite portable), and it shows absolutely no sign of wear at all. Few purchases have given such solid satisfaction as the Wild Safari coelacanth, and I recommend it wholeheartedly - really, I don't know how I got along without it.

This is a replica coelacanth, 'Fossil Fish'. Its surprisingly well built as well as detailed for the price and the "Old Four Legs" is faithfully rendered in a concrete, graspable item.

I've always told people about this "smelly, oily" fish, but now i can fully share exactly why they are so special!

So it's not lifesize, or at least not adult coelacanth life-size, but it's pretty highly detailed. It seems pretty solid and rugged, therefore higly resistant to damage, though I intend to be cautious about the various lobe-fins that protrude from the body. I appreciate the fact that the manufacturer molded it in this way, rather than more streamlined with the fins against the body, and hence less obvious. That would have robbed the figure of the essence of coelacanth - so kudos to the sculptor!

The figure is a blue shade, speckled with white dots. Although I believe the actual fish is more of a brown-speckled color.

This item is so great! It's greatly detailed. It's a unique animal, no other company makes it. The body is very solid, not hollow like some. I really like it and highly recommend whether you're looking for something like this for educational purposes or for other reasons.

I am a life long fan and collector of all things prehistoric. Dinosaurs were my first love and that has never changed. I still recall reading an article about the coelacanth's discovery as a still living animal thought extinct for millions of years. The unprecedented history and unique body plan of this amazing fish made it one of the animals of pre and current history that I always felt deserved to be represented in plastic. And at last is has been!

The detail and accuracy are perfect and the size is ideal for play or display.

The detail is absolutely amazing. My son loved it (and immediately researched the critter), now it is on "display" on the edge of the tub.
