This is a beautiful, big book. Although the cover suggests an art/coffee table book, the photos inside are a variety of sizes, not necessarily full page but definitely adequately sized. The shots are very creative, but they may not capture a child's attention as much as an adult's. Adults will appreciate dramatically lit shots of lawn chairs overlooking a nearly dark savanna, for example, but many children may not.

The photos are similar to those in a National Geographic issue, although on a much larger scale. It's not as dry as that may sound. If you enjoy National Geographic, I think you'll love this book. There is interesting text (although it's tiny - be warned if you need larger print) and fascinating photos, but it takes a closer reading and a slower trip through than many children will give it. It's more of an adult's coffee table book. Otherwise, the cover may be slightly misleading if you're looking for a splashy, full page book of African animals for your child.

I have been wanting this book for ages but couldn't get my hands on a copy--even at the original $50. Good things come to those who have to wait! Such a steal at $15...the photos are stunning and the text is fascinating. People who come to visit find themselves drawn in by it. No, it's not on the coffee table (on a side table instead) but the cover alone is so arresting that it can't be missed. Beautiful!

Beautiful book. I paid way too much for it, as the price was right on the back cover. That really puts me off and I would like my feelings on this to be known, without taking it out on the book itself. It was a gift for someone and as a gift, it is a wonderful book! Beautiful photography...interesting text. Just be careful what you pay for it! :)

A beautiful book. A gorgeous, exotic cover. Perfect for a coffee table. The book is chaptered by different African nations where people go on Safaris to experience the wonders of planet earth. 5 stars.

I thought this was only about the African migrations and was very pleased to read about migrations of so many different animals all over the world. Great for a coffee table or classroom.
