4.0 out of 5 stars great for my classroom
These are great for the classroom, which is what they are being used for. I like that the shelves are repositionable, every so often the kids will pull one out when grabbing their papers in a hurry. Overall I really like them and they have survived the school year with no marks of wear. Over all, I'm very pleased!

(Note: I'm not sure why they changed the picture. I got the "oak" version, which is faux woodgrain.)

This is not wood; it's laminated particle board, but hopefully you've realized this. The shelves are composite. The back is cardboard. Overall, it's not bad.

Pros:
1. It's plenty solid.
2. It "blends in" with the actual wood things in my office and I find it visually inoffensive.
3. The shelves sit on little pegs, and it's easy to remove shelves if you want larger compartments.

Cons:
1. The shelves should be half an inch wider. This is a real bummer to discover, and the reason I'm writing the review. There are plenty of envelopes that hold 8.5x11 paper that are wider than 9 inches. (Labels to go in the computer printer are my immediate example. Ditto for our inter-departmental routing envelopes.) These don't even fit diagonally, unless I remove a shelf. Manilla folders also do not fit (the tabs stick out too far, causing the whole thing to bend).

More Room for Improvement:
1. If they put more holes in the sides, the shelves would be adjustable height.

Bottom line:
This is definitely "better than nothing" for me and has helped me with a clutter problem in my office. I'm glad I got it. But I'm also disappointed with the shelf widths.

4.0 out of 5 stars great literature organizer, September 17, 2010

As a teacher, I use this literature organizer as a mail slot for student work. I love how it is shorter than most other literature organizers. It is very professional and was easy to assemble. It is extremely sturdy as far as the frame and the individual pieces that make each slot...It is not cardboard! The covers on the front edge of each slot do stay on and for the most part stay in the organizer. However, the one thing that I wish could be better is the fact that the papers don't easily slide out of the slots due to the covers on the front edge. We have about 10 papers each week that are sorted into individual slots. Occasionally, the bottom of each slot tilts or falls when papers are being taken out. I would still purchase the product as the pros outweigh the cons.

3.0 out of 5 stars average, September 19, 2011

The exterior is nice and sturdy. The shelves fall when you pull them out. The support should have been better. But it is functional for my papers,I just have to be very careful if I try to slide the shelf out.

2.0 out of 5 stars Cheap, September 24, 2010

Looks much better as a picture. This was a lot of money for a cheap piece of plastic. It is somewhat sturdy so receives better than one star. However, this was received cracked and dirty and just plain ugly. My business partner laughed when it came in the mail and said, "you've been had!!!" Don't be cheap like us and spend a few more dollars for a better one. Not too sure about this company who sent us what looks to be a used product. We'll be looking for another product. If you still want this product, look on craigs list as this one will be listed there soon

The product was a little time consuming to put together. Not difficult, just slow going. It fits perfectly under the cabinets. That was a huge consideration as the 3 x 8 mailboxes may have been to tight. The mailboxes are heavy which is good so they do not move when the students are all getting their papers. The inserts do come out but are easily put back in. Overall great product and perfect for the classroom.

Not as difficult to put together as I anticipated, but does require a hammer. Looks nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Organizer, February 2, 2007

Money Minder (Atlanta, GA, US) - See all my reviews
My husband is not such an organized guy so bills, mails, important documents and filed documents are nowhere to be found when we need them the most. File cabinet was a waste for him coz they never get filed in them. So I got this organizer with open compartments, labeled them. Now he can blindly put the bills, mails, documents in their right place. When we want to review some document its easier for him to get his hands on.

3.0 out of 5 stars Sent the wrong item, August 28, 2009
This review is from: Safco Products Wood Adjustable Literature Organizer, 24 Compartment, Oak (9423MO) (Office Product)
I received the wrong item from Safeco, called immediately and was told that I had to wait 3 days to get an email and that it would be picked up thereafter in the next 3-10. I faithfully put the pkg. on my front step for days and days and it was never picked up. Called again and this helpful person told me it was never scheduled to be picked up. So she sent a new email and low and behold it was picked up the next day (11 days after receiving the completely wrong item in the first place). I was slightly perturbed because then I was told they couldn't send me the right item until the wrong item arrived at the warehouse. But the second customer service rep. was kind enough to override this when I gave her the tracking number for the returned merchandise. SO needless to say I had a bit of a hassle trying to get this item. It is solid, I'll say that much.
