This is light weight. Purchased to carry boxes for an office of women. Weighs about 8 pounds and fold with one hand. We found it to be exactly what we were looking for! Our boxes can weigh 80-100 pounds each and we can stack two on the handtruck. Very durable.

I really like how compact and sturdy this product is. The only reason I didn't rate it as a 5 star is that when you have boxes stacked up to the top handle, there isn't any way to hold onto it without having your hand stuck between the handle and the boxes. Sort of annoying.

Hazardous design - swats you in the face when you load it.

When the hand truck is opened up, it rests on the wheels and the back of the toe plate. The front lip of the toe plate is about 1/2" off the floor.

When you lean over to place something on it, the entire hand truck snaps forward. The handle (only part of which is padded) strikes you in the face. If the item is heavy, this happens with a lot of force. I can tell you that it really hurts. The injury could be quite serious if one is wearing glasses.

The cause is that, unlike most hand trucks, this truck has the wheels positioned about 1/2" off the floor when the toe plate is flat on the floor. You can see that in the product photo.

The Safco 4061 "HideAway Collapsible Hand Truck" does not have this problem.

It fits in the back of my car in the space between my spare tire and back cover. It expands out easily and carries a lot of weight. For me it is all about space and this is a great space saver. I have other Safco hand trucks, but this is the one I use the most as it takes up the least amount of space. I would recommend some kind of tying solution to add to it so what you are carrying will not fall off. Highly recommended buy.

This a great little fold up cart that is not heavy and stores easily in a small space or trunk. Have found this invaluable for carrying cases of water or just about anything else. A friend saw my little cart and got one too. This was a good price - well worth it.

This medium weight aluminum dolly fits the bill when you need something less substantial than the warehouse dolly you've stored in the garage. It easily folds flat for storage, carries a full load, and is well priced.

In 2005, we purchased the Safco Medium Stow-away Collapsible Hand Truck through Amazon.com after an agonizing move into and out of our daughter's freshman dorm without such a device. We are nearing the end of our second daughter's college career 6 years later and the 'Hand Truck' is still going strong! This device is an amazing work horse, lugging Futons, bureaus, heavy TV's, mini-refrigerators, crates of bottled water, boxes upon boxes of books, etc. In addition to all those college-related moves, it has also facilitated several other moves (approximately 6) smoothly and effortlessly. When the car is loaded to the max, there's still room for this cleverly collapsible 'hand truck' as it folds up relatively flat (the wheels rotate so they are flat) and the handle collapses down as well like a luggage handle. By using Bungee cords to secure what you are carrying, you can really load this thing up. Simply put, we could not have done all these moves without it. Have loaned it out to other parents, painters (they love it to lug all those heavy cans of paint, the drop cloths,etc.) and just convinced my neighbor to buy one for his business. It is true that if you are carrying something large & heavy such that it extends above the top of the extended handle, it is somewhat awkward to grab onto the extended handle. However, I consider this such a small inconvenience that I rated it '5 star' as an ideal tool for moving for the price!

This product works very well for what its intended for. Its extremely lightweight and seems to be durable. There is some plastic parts on this product but I can't see anyone breaking it unless your extremely rough on it. (Maybe running it over with a vehicle will do it.)

My only complaint is the support plate is a little shallow. I'm thinking about welding a aluminium extension to it because I use my hand truck for carrying my tools in plants that I work in. My bag barely fits on the stock plate, but for most people's uses I don't think it will be a problem.

As for storage, for me it couldn't be better. Its aluminium so it won't rust, and I keep mine behind my toolbox in the back of my truck. It works great for my needs and I think as far as storage it will be great for most users.

All in all I recommend this product to everyone who needs a lightweight, collapsible hand truck.
