This is a very comfortable chair.
Gustavo A. Darino
It has easily adjustable heights that let it serve well as a desk chair or higher stool for counters or taller tables.

I have a high worktable with my computer at one end. I spend approximately three hours per day seated, using my computer. I sat on a tall stool (with a cushion) for years. After undergoing treatments for sciatica pain, I followed my doctor's recommendation and spent some money on a better chair, and I should have done it a long time ago. I like this chair because it is strong, well-made, good-looking, glides smoothly over my carpet, has a nice footrest, and was a snap to assemble. It's comfortable... the tilting back is great. I feel this chair will serve me well for a long time. Highly recommended.

The Safco Metro chair is exactly what I was looking. It has easily adjustable heights that let it serve well as a desk chair or higher stool for counters or taller tables. It is very comfortable. I ordered the matching arms for mine. They are fine, but the lowest height is a little higher than I would like, still not bad. Finally, assembly was a piece of cake. I've ordered and put together about 4 or 5 chairs through the years and this one by far was the fastest and easiest. Really well designed and engineered in this way. Total assembly time with the arms was about 10 or 15 minutes - max.

This chair is an excellent value. We are a computer store and we use it to work on rows of computers. We can easily roll around and adjust the height as needed. We like the metal base which is very strong. This chair receives a great deal of use and has performed even better that expected. The pneumatic seat lift is well made should last a long time.

UPDATE: I'm updating my review after using this chair for 15 months now. Here is what I originally wrote...

"It's comfortable and works well. My only minor gripe is that the round foot rest (whatever it's called) slowly loosens up and slides down the shaft. Doesn't matter how hard I tighten it, it just happens. Not a big deal to re-tighten it every week or two, but something that could be improved."

Everything from my original review holds true, except the plastic sleave that creates friction between the foot ring and the shaft has nearly fallen apart after just over a year of use. Without this, the foot ring will not stay in place, which is already the one weakpoint of this chair as mentioned above. With all of that said, I just called Safco and got some fantastic customer service... I asked if they could send me a new plastic sleave and they were about to do so until the lady on the phone noticed that the part is no longer available. So instead, she is shipping out a brand new chair. That's the kind of customer service you just don't see anymore. I love companies that stand behind their products (even with they have little glitches now and again), so I've actually increased the star rating to 5 stars from the original 4.

After several years of use (this is the best chair I've had), my seat fabric wore out and the foam inside started to come loose. I emailed Safco's customer service looking for a new seat. I got a response within 15 minutes, and within a half hour they had a brand new chair shipped out to me, under warranty, for free. OUTSTANDING. They have a customer for life.

Good chair, firm cushion that won't give that much over time. Chair is solid. I am a big guy and the chair is holding up pretty good.

It has that quality build that really separates it from the [..] crap at staples and ikea.

I think the one i bought didn't have the arm rest, but the chair is solid.

Not cushy but utilitarian; would recommend to men.

I have been please so far with this chair until today. My employee was leaning to the side to grab something off the table and the leg broke clean off.. 1/2! There are 5 legs total thankful because she would have been hurt if not. She is only 120lbs and i am around 215lbs (not fat) so we are the only 2 people who use this chair. Well i hate to bash a product and that i am not going to do.. but i will mentioned that the legs should have been made out of Steel not Aluminum! The chair sets up at it highest point when erected (this is a plus if you have high counters) so this chair is great if you do not have it set to the highest point..

The other downside to this chair is the fact that the armrest are not included.
I looked around for a chair that would suit my needs and it was hard to find a comfortable chair that did not cost a ton of money.. So i read EVERY review online
about these type of chairs.. and to be honest there are not too many that can set this high and not be consider a bar stool or drafting chair.. So here is how i am going to rate it. 1 -5 stars

4 stars >Design (simple) They should offer different colors or materials
4 stars> Comfort ( this will depend of course on you weight and how high the chair sets.
3 stars> Foot Rest ( this tends to come loose and slide down do i stopped trying to re-tighten it.
2 stars> Wheels/legs ( sturdy if you are setting lower not too sturdy if you are setting at its' highest point)
3 stars> Rear back rest ( somewhat comfortable but not adjustable at all. I figured by the picture it had some sort of knob on it that would allow you to set the stiffness of it..
