Safe in the Arms of Love: Deepening the Essential Bond with Your Baby is a wonderful book and CD combination designed to help parents and babies connect. I found lots of information in the book to be helpful, and in line with my beliefs of the importance of parent-child bonding.

Some advice for bonding included this list:

-Touch your baby, skin to skin

-Massage your baby

-Experience eye contact with your baby

-Sing and Speak in a tender way to your baby

-Play with your baby

The music CD is wonderful! Relaxing and peaceful, we turned it on as we cleaned up toys before dinner and my three year old wanted to keep it on as we ate!

I think this book and CD set would make a great gift for any expectant parent. I enjoyed the essays about becoming a mother and father, suggestions on specific ways to bond with your baby, and relaxing music to listen to!

For a soon to be momma or a new momma this really is a wonderful tool to help remind you to take a few minutes. Not only does it help make things in calmer in my house, because my children feed off my emotions, but it serves as a wonderful bedtime tool as well. When Coulter was born we put him down every night to music because we wanted to train him to sleep through anything (which we will regret in his teenager years), we regret that we didn't enforce this more with Corbin as he is the lightest sleeper :( I could literally vacuum Coulter's room after he went to sleep, with Corbin don't even walk by the door. I like the aspect that since this cd is so calming and both boys will calm to it I think it will help Corbin sleep better at night by putting him more peaceful.

I was recently in need of a new baby gift and stumped as to what to purchase since everything on the happy parents' registry had been acquired. I took a friend's recommendation to buy Safe in the Arms of Love and can't tell you how many positive comments I have received. I've gotten multiple emails from the mother and father saying how much they love the book and music; it has become part of their daily routine. If you are in need of a shower or baby gift or are a new parent yourself, I highly recommend this book.
