Installation was easy.

I immediately went online and did some research and found this product, the StrikeMaster II Pro.

The StrikeMaster is also a bit too wide for space on my door jam.

I bought this after a rash of front door kick-in burglaries in my little town. I was aiming to strengthen the front door such that if someone wanted to kick it in, they'd at least have to do it more than once. So I needed something to beef up the door jamb. This product definitely does that!

It is actually two thinner pieces of steel flat stock that have been shaped to fit on a standard door opening. To install, you simply remove the existing door jamb striker plate(s) and then stack the two pieces of the Door Reinforcer together along the jamb. Then simply drive the screws provided all the way into the studs behind the jamb. Seriously took 10 minutes to finish.

Price seems a little high for what you get, I mean the materials here are pretty inexpensive. However the expense they've put into the paint and the clean machining of the parts is top notch. I definitely feel safer with it installed.

Just installed this on two entry doors. VERY, VERY GOOD PRODUCT. Installs easily, fits perfectly. Haven't "tried" it (and I wouldn't recommend you do either, unless you want a dented door, of course) but it absolutely tightens up the movement of the door when locked. I'm assuming it would have to work as expected in case of a breakdown.

Three Gripes:

1. The price is pretty high for two pieces of steel and some screws. Don't tell me you can't put a price on security, because they sure did.

2. Wish, especially for the price, that they would give you a piece that ran the entire length of the frame for the hinge side.

3. DON'T FREAK ON THE DIRECTIONS! Use common sense when installing. The directions make it sound WAY TOO HARD. Oh, and be careful of not hurting your weatherstripping if using a cordless drill.

Having watched too many videos of doors being kicked in, I thought this item would help prevent those pesky kick-in's. Not really a problem in Irvine, CA, but what the hell, never know about those girls scouts. I read the other comments about the spacing between the door and the door frame, so I thought I would be smart to check the space by inserting both pieces into the gap. The fit was good. So then I proceeded to install the metal strip on the door frame. Well door frame got in the way, so I ended up removing the moulding. Now the gap between the door and frame is wider. I then installed the metal strip on the door. This prevented the door from closing, now it's been removed. I'll probably have to sand down the portions of the door that is preventing the door from closing. I guess your mileage will vary.

P.s. this really is a very thin piece of sheet metal with cut outs for the lock.

I was a little skeptical about buying this after reading about it in a home security book. The product arrived in a long box, and my skepticism remained. But then I removed the strike plate that the builder installed, an wow, what tiny screws. The industry standard screw for a strike plate is 3/4 of a inch I guess. I can now see why it looks so easy to kick in a door on all those Youtube videos... it's because it is easy! The only thing keeping bad guys out are two tiny screws!!!

The installation of the door reinforcer was pretty straight forward. I do recommend just drilling in two screws (specifically the top and bottom screws) and make sure your door closes properly first before doing the rest of the screws. I did this from the very beginning, and I'm glad I did. I found that I had to take a flat head screw driver and chip away a little bit of wood for the "tab" to fit in the hole so that the deadlatch would fit.

I was so impressed, I purchased a second one as a house warming gift for my sister and brother-in-laws new house.

I'm a Realtor, and I'm also considering making this my go to closing gift.

This product greatly increases the security of my home. Highly recommend it!

Purchased this after our next door neighbor got his door kicked/pryed in at 9am on a weekday (talk about brazen). Was much more work that I had expected. My home is a typical run on the milll home built in the late 80's. I had to do some extensive chiseling and filing to make the strikemaster pro II fit. After about 2 hours of work.....and also having to put a new hole in the metal strip because my deadbolt did not line up with the pre-fab hole, I installed it. Now my front door is like a vault. Very impressed and highly recommended....just prepare to do some modifications. Most doors don't have large gaps that will accept this. Most doors I imagine WILL need to have the door frame jamb AND the swinging door edge chiseled and filed away. Then you have to paint it if you want to. I just left it like that.

I had a friend recommend this after their door was kicked in and home burglarized. I searched and searched but couldn't find another strikeplate replacement of this size at a cheaper price point. I bit the bullet and purchased the strikemaster pro and I'm very happy. I figured for under a 100 bucks it was cheaper than replacing my electronics after a break in or paying my insurance deductable. It took minutes to install and even eliminated a slight draft we had at the door.
