Characters lack personality...,
By
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
I don't feel this book was the best true crime I've ever read, but it certainly doesn't qualify as the worst, either. It doesn't deserve the single star that other reviewers have given it. While I agree that it's lacking in depth and detail, it is not boring or dry. I would have liked, however, to have read about both the killer's and the victim's backgrounds. I never really felt that I got to know any of the characters.

Interesting Crime but Lacking in Background,
By
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
If you are a true crime reader who enjoys the twisted and sordid details of the crime and the crime only, this will be a perfect read for you. I, on the other hand, am most enticed by the "what makes people tick" syndrome; therefore, being that scarce information on Farah Fratta's background was provided and nothing at all was provided about Bob Fratta's background, I was disappointed.
That aside, Bob Fratta is one of the most deranged individuals I have ever read about; and I've read about many. This book essentially follows the murder that was the result of a child custody battle between the Frattas after Farah revealed the sexual perversions of Bob in a deposition and he learned she would most likely receive custody and he would have to pay child support. It's an interesting read because readers see one more narcissistic, inflated ego ex-cop sentenced to death for what he thought was "the perfect crime."

Very Sad!,
By Megan Twain "MT" (NYC) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
Unlike the other review I do feel the Author did a good job he told enough about the backgrounds and stuck with the story...I am an avid true crime book reader and many books i have read although they have been good they tend to drag on ...This story didn't the author got right down to the story giving the reader some background on each person...This story is really sad because what it tells you is that you never know a person...This women Farah thought she met the man of her dreams and winded up with this sick pathetic sadistic unfeeling lunatic...What Bob did to Farah was unspeakable and he deserves the worst possible sentence of life...This is a must read book !

Deadly Devotion,
By A Customer
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
I've been reading true crime novels for nearly 15 years and have never read about anyone so perverted & deranged. This unusual story had me hooked from the first page. Clearly Farah Fratta was devoted to keeping her family whole. So devoted that she tolerated her husband's unspeakable behavior for nine years. After many marital separations and reconsiliations, she finally realized she had to protect their daughter from potential sexual abuse by her father. That was a fatal mistake because no one leaves Bob Fratta who, being a public safety officer, thought he could beat the system. This story will have the reader asking, "Is this guy for real?". The very reason I prefer to read true crime - Truth IS stranger than fiction!

A Travesty of Literature,
By
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
No Safe Place is one of the worst books that I have yet to read. The writing is clunky and sloppy and I rarely had any clue what was going on or why I should care about it. I never really got to know any of the people because there was no in-depth analysis of these people. The reader is only told that Farah is good and Robert is bad. The author gives the reader little credit for having a mind of his or her own.
The saddest part about this book is that the poor woman who was murdered deserved better than Bill G. Cox could give her. This book could have been a testament to her bravery and to her life. Instead, it's a badly written, boring travesty of true crime literature.

Great true crime,
By A Customer
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
I highly recommend this book to anyone with an interest in true crime stories. The book stems from the murder of Farah Baquer Fratta, a young, vibrant mother of three. After enduring years of the humiliating sexual perversities of her husband, Bob Fratta, Farah filed for divorce. The details of their sexual life which came out in the divorce and custody battle give an incredible insight into the mind of Bob Fratta. Faced with the prospect of losing his wife and children (and control of a hefty trust fund) and the certainty of having to pay child support, Fratta approached dozens of people with the suggestion that he was looking for someone to kill his estranged wife. He eventually found the person he was looking for: Joseph Prystash, who acted as middle-man and convinced petty criminal Howard Guidry to murder Farah. The bumbling mistakes that eventually led to the trio's arrest and arrival on death row make a joke of Fratta's internet claims of innocence. Start this book when you have a little free time on your hands because you will not want to put it down.

I found the book very good. What he did to her was horrible. It is not one of my favorite true crime books but I did like it. But have recommended to friends to read and would recommend it to more people. Very good book.

Not the best book I've read,
By
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
This is actually one true crime novel that I didn't finish! This book was very boring. The author gave me almost no insight into the victim's life and personality. I had a hard time getting involved because the book reads almost like a court testimony. It is a very dry book with redundant facts. How many times does the author have to tell us Mr. Fratta asked someone if they would kill his wife? Save your money.

The Worst Book I've Ever Read,
By Ryan Duffy (Kansas City, MO USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: No Safe Place (Pinnacle True Crime) (Paperback)
I'm writing this review to warn people to avoid this book like the plague. It's terrible! Actually, it's an interesting story, but the writer did nothing to dig deep into it. The second half of the book is basically court testimony that has not been put into any kind of context. A tale of a repulsive person not told particularly well. After reading it, I can honestly say it was the worst book I've ever read.

Cousin of Bob Fratta,
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: No Safe Place (Paperback)
Considering that I am the cousin to the accused, I know the man and his family well. I think the author of this book wrote this story very one sided and made my aunt and cousin out to look awful, when they are wonderful people. I am not saying that he is innocent, I am only saying they could have done alittle more on what a great family he came from. For example, our grandfather was on the NYPD and died in the line of duty. I am seriously think of doing a book on the story myself to show more about how Bob's family truly was and his life prior to all of this.
