5.0 out of 5 stars My Favorite Group EVER!
Frogpond is an amazingly talented group that will (hopefully) continue to make music for years to come. This CD--their latest--combines more styles than 1996's COUNT TO TEN, including an acoustic solo (the song "Empty Room"), an upbeat punkpop anthem ("I Did") and a satisfying rock-rant about working ("Get Paid"). This album has something...

3.0 out of 5 stars OK, But I Prefer Others
OK hard chick rock similar in tone and style to Fetchin Bones or Mary's Danish. I didn't really like it but it is fine for the genre, stand out is `World Clash'.

Skip Brittney Spears, N'Sync, and all the pre-fab Rap groups--Frogpond is the real thing!

5.0 out of 5 stars They've Done It Again..., June 8, 1999
This review is from: Safe Ride Home (Audio CD)
Well, what can I say... After a long, horrible wait for the release of Frogpond's follow up to "Count to Ten," I can honestly say that it was worth the wait. I purchased this album the second it came out, (Actually, I had it ordered months before.) and it has not left my CD player since. I can't say which song is my favorite, because I really can't decide yet. The album is so eclectic and brings so much to the table, that not one song deserves to be left out. The album is a mixture of instant radio hits, power ballads, and pure "get up and jump" music. Heidi has topped herself as both a singer and a songwriter. She shows her talent through words, catchy guitar and bass licks, and an increased vocal range (compared to "Count to Ten"). And of course, like with "Count to Ten," it seems as if she is singing to me, and I'm the one who has caused her heartache. Most of the songs leave me wanting to apologize or console. I don't know which, but whatever the case, this girl has a knack with combining prose and voice. I can't say enough... I can't say anything intelligent... I think I'm still in awe. So, until I can get out of the mode of cranking "Safe Ride Home" in my car and belting out the lyrics alongside Heidi, I'll leave it at this. I've found that it's hard to explain the joy I feel about how good this album really is. Once again, this album is a must buy for anyone who wants to hear a fallen angel sing to them.

5.0 out of 5 stars Little Known Band Puts Out Very Solid Album, January 9, 2000

I had never heard of Frogpond until our local college radio station (KLSU) started playing one of their songs in light rotation. On the strength of a few listens to this song (the name of which escapes me), I was able to tell that this band had a fresh sound and was more interested in self-expression than in hit-making. I bought the album, and now it is my current most-played CD. I really like it quite a bit, and I look forward to witnessing the further development of Frogpond as a band. I just hope they never sell out.

Frogpond should be extremely proud of this album. They've gotten incredibly good at the labors of creating music, and the purchase of this disc would be no mistake for someone looking to acquire a new up-and-coming band in their life.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fan from Kansas, July 16, 1999
This review is from: Safe Ride Home (Audio CD)
I never even knew Frogpond had released their CD. I have been listening to their demo tape for almost a year with "I Did" and "Victim of a Victim." I was so excited to hear they had a CD. (Where have I been). Anyone and everyone needs to buy this! If you ever have a chance to see them live, it's a must see. I saw them open for the Goo Goo Dolls in Kansas City and I truly believed they performed better than them. Heidi has a brilliant voice. 5 stars-a must have

3.0 out of 5 stars different from anyone else . . ., July 7, 1999

Most people are probably not familiar with the band 'Frogpond'...yet after you get the CD u will want to know more about them. Maybe i am a tad biased, seeing how i am from their area (they even thank our local DJ in the thank u's)...but they are awesome. I couldn't give them 5 stars b/c it wasn't the best CD i have ever bought, but it was worth what i paid. I advise everyone to go out and buy it..

4.0 out of 5 stars This long awaited follow-up will not disappoint you!, June 19, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Safe Ride Home (Audio CD)
Safe Ride Home is everything you love about Frogpond. Hooks, Grooves, Melody, it's all there and better than ever. Frogpond has come along way from the Kansas plains they formed in, personnel changes, growing pains, business decisions. Their new maturity shines in this Columbia/C2 release. If you're not familiar with Frogpond you better get on the bandwagon soon. It won't be sitting still very long. Don't forget to fasten your seat belts either, when it does take off it's going to be moving pretty fast.
