Excellent Guide for the imagination,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun (Paperback)
I'm often asked ... sometimes asked, well someone asked me once what my favourite toy was. My imagination is my favourite toy. It is something that I always have and means I can create a scene with whatever is to hand. But the imagination needs to be fed. You need to encourage it by exposing it to lots of imaginative material. Want to do pirate scenes? Immerse yourself in tales of piracy on the high seas.So it was with delight that I received my copy of "Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun" by John Warren. Here are fifteen scenes described by John Warren to fire the imagination. But best of all each scene has marginal notes illustrating safety issues and implementation issues. The scene where someone is handcuffed and moved around notes that one of the links of the handcuffs has been replaced with thread so should the victim fall they will snap the thread and avoid injury. The are many marginal notes, packed with useful information about staging scenes. There are quite a variety of scenes described here, from a walk through a shopping mall with bells on, to a enactment of a busty wench captured by a cruel pirate crew. Unusual for a BDSM book, one of the scenes involves 'turn around' where the top becomes the bottom and vice versa in the same scene. I like this as it shows another way of doing things where the roles of top and bottom are not fixed. Something that is often forgotten in all the emphasis on clearly defined roles. Feed your BDSM imagination with this book!

Will enhance everyday, humdrum lovemaking forever,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun (Paperback)
What happens when loving couples of any sexual persuasion start to get a little bored with the sameness of the act? Dr. Warren's book, "Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun" addresses those who would like to expand their lovemaking repetoire by adding fantasy and role playing. If more couples would allow themselves to open up and experiment I guarantee the divorce rate would plummet, especially for the over-forty crowd.

entertaining and practical,
By TammyJo Eckhart "TammyJo Eckhart" (Bloomington, Indiana United States) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE)
This review is from: Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun (Paperback)
There are dozens of books now available to give the novice information on how to be safe while practicing what our society calls "kinky". There are hundreds of fiction books that portray unrealistic relationships and a few dozen which show more the heart and soul of BDSM. But John Warren in one book does both. This book, "Safe, Sane, Consensual and Fun" is a great hybred of fiction and how-to. 14 stories show different orientations (primarily het) and different activities that people who do BDSM engage in. At the beginning we are given a list of the tools used in the story. As the story goes along, there are safety notes, suggestions, and info on how that scene is being done. Its a good way to start exploring and a good source to have your partner read before you try something out. Just remember that you aren't a fictional character and other things can come up during your scenes.
