Biography

Jukebox the Ghost’s third album Safe Travels marks a period in the band’s career that’s steeped in change, both personally and professionally. Relationships dissolved and crumbled. Loved ones passed on. The band, themselves, relocated from Philadelphia to New York City and played over 200 shows since the release of their last album in 2010. In the midst of so much change, ... Editorial Reviews

Review

''Jukebox the Ghost play rambunctious pop music with the compact melodicism of the Beatles, the ambitious prog sprawl of Yes, and the persistent dance motion of New Order.'' --The Washington Post

Product Description

Jukebox the Ghost's album Safe Travels, the ambitious follow up to their 2010 breakout, was produced by Dan Romer (Ingrid Michelson) and features 13 new, original tracks. JTG remains pianist Ben Thornewill, guitarist Tommy Siegel and drummer Jesse Kristin. After the release of 2010's Everything Under the Sun Jukebox The Ghost's fanbase exploded as the band played hundreds of shows and headlined the largest venues of their career, including a packed house at DC's legendary 930 Club and NY's Brooklyn Bowl. During their rapid rise the band's music was featured in an iPad ad, they played on Letterman and Lollapalooza, and much more.

5.0 out of 5 stars Infectious Piano Pop June 12, 2012
Format:Audio CD
Jukebox the Ghost releases their 3rd CD to the tune of upbeat piano pop, infused with strong vocals and clever lyrics. To suggest that their music sounds like The Beatles, or Coldplay, or some other band is to sell them short. While some of their songs clearly draw inspiration from some of these great bands, the group brings their own style and sound to the CD. This CD is fantastic in that you find something new to like on it with each new listen. You may pick up this CD having heard one of their songs, but it's the nature of their style of music that you will invariably find yourself a week or two down the road, singing along to another song from the CD that you never even realized you had enjoyed.

I cannot recommend this CD enough. If you like the sounds of Ben Folds, the stylings of The Beatles and Coldplay, or just enjoy good piano pop with fantastic lyrics, you will not be disappointed with this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Phenomenal June 13, 2012
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
This is Jukebox the Ghost's (JtG) third studio album after their debut "Live and let Live Ghosts" and second album, "Everything Under the Sun." "Safe Travels," to me, feels more refined, and it seems that they have found their niche, and do absolutely perfect in it.

Over the entirety of their three albums and everything they have written, you can definitely hear influences from bands such as The Beatles and Coldplay, but JtG has their own sound. It somehow... somehow is different. It captures you and throws you into this phenomenal, euphoric, up-beat piano rock world with great lyrics, singing, and pleasant surprises.

I, too, cannot recommend this album enough. Ever since I saw JtG live (opening act for Tally Hall) at the Dallas House of Blues in 2010, I was a fan. I will continue to be a fan til the day I die.

After only one run through, this album has found a permanent spot on my iPod, and will stay there for the foreseeable future.

Thank you Jukebox the Ghost, thank you Ben Thornewill, Tommy Siegel, Jesse Kristin. Thank you

If you have not heard of these guys, you have been missing out. This album is just as good as their second album, but you need to check out that one too. This is part of my playlist for long drives. Definitely upbeat stay awake music.

I've been a fan of Jukebox the Ghost since I heard Mistletoe. This album lives up to its expectations. I love it. Played it all weekend on Repeat. That's all. Love.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the best albums of the year February 19, 2013
Format:MP3 Music|Amazon Verified Purchase
So, I'm a huge Springsteen fan, and carry a very large music catalog. I consider myself very snobby with music, but I stumbled upon the 2nd album of Jukebox, and they kinda hooked me along. This album, their third, is freaking fantastic. It's upbeat, gorgeous sounding, has some stellar guitar work, and really should have shot them further in the popular world. It's ok, though, I'll stick with them not having the ridiculous fame of Mumford for a little longer...we all saw what happened to overplaying Hootie...

This was definitely one of the better albums of 2012, hands down.

5.0 out of 5 stars Jukebox the Ghost - Safe Travels February 16, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Absolutely love this album. This is their third studio album and as good, if not better than the previous two. I have had a hard time picking a favorite track, but some of my favorites include At Last, Say When, and Adulthood. That being said, there isn't a bad track on the album. Buy it, you won't be disappointed.

4.0 out of 5 stars Give it a chance February 7, 2013
Format:Audio CD|Amazon Verified Purchase
Jukebox the Ghost----I first saw them opening for Barenaked ladies. They were outstanding. A jump-around, foot pumping bop and bubble gum spectacle not to be missed. The new cuts are NOT that. I rated this high because of the quality of the music which is always good.....just it isn't what they used to do. Maybe I should grow up more and accept that they are....but I want what they started....back. Maybe they could cut a few tracks of the old JTG in each album as they grow.

I love this band, and each album they come out with is better than the last. Playful and energetic as well as witty and emotional. They are FANTASTIC live too.
