Our Britax Marathon barely fit into this thing. It made the first leg of our trip in one piece. But when we arrived in Hawaii - the first time I tried to remove the seat, the zipper ripped at the top.
Then on the return flight - I zipped up the bag and right at the end zipping it up - the entire zip mechanism just popped right off of the bag. When I arrived at home, I thought I would have to cut the seat out of the bag. Fortunately, the stitching along the zipper was so flimsy, I was able to just rip the thing open, with little to no effort.
Poor, poor, poor construction for a bag that was supposed to be sturdy enough for travel.
Do not buy this tote.
I have used the bag with both a Peg Perego Primo Viaggio infant seat and the Sunshine Kids Radian convertible car seat. The bag worked beautifully for the infant seat (it was also used by friends for a Graco Snugride and a Chicco Keyfit). The Radian is a little too tall for the bag. I had to remove the rear facing foot and fold up the seat to get it to fit in the bag.
I was a little disappointed withe backpack straps. They are fairly thin straps with no padding. It wasn't a big deal with the light infant seat but after heading through the check-in line at the airport with the Radian (22 lbs!) once, I opted for pulling it along with the rest of my luggage instead.
I confess I had some trouble with the wheels too. I often struggled to get the bag/seat balanced correctly so that I was pulling on the wheels instead of the bag itself. Ultimately, the bag ripped from being pulled across cement incorrectly when I was too laden with luggage to care.
In all, this bag survived about 10 round trip flights in less than a year. I think it is about dead now, but like I said, it is because I dragged it across cement, not because it didn't stand up to luggage manhandling. I even forgot to remove the straps a couple of times and the bag survived without problem. I am now looking for a replacement travel bag. I need it for the Radian so I will look around at other options but may end up with this bag again because it really worked well.
In the baggage handlers' defense, I will say that I have grabbed this bag and started dragging it incorrectly myself on numerous occasions so I can see why they do the same thing. The bottom of the bag needs another set of wheels or some kind of major redesign because this one just doesn't hold up to the typical wear and tear baggage handlers put luggage through. So far, our car seat has made it unscathed, but only because of the repeated reapplications of duct tape! 3M 2245 Scotch Heavy Duty All-Weather Duct Tape, 1.88-Inch x 45-Yard, 1-Pack
I would not recommend this car seat bag if you plan on using it over and over and over again. I don't currently have a recommendation, but I am going to start shopping for a new one very soon.
Update: Britax now makes a travel bag and we bought it and love it. It makes traveling with a carseat so much easier.
