This is an unbelievable game. The genius that went in to programming this is something else. It will challenge all the perceptive and logic thinking atoms in your brain. 1.0 out of 5 stars Safecracker the Ultimate Puzzle Adventure
I love puzzles and thought this sounded like a fun challenge. It was really too difficult for me. The clues too vague to really give me insight as to where I was to go next. I found myself spending more time on web pages with cheats then in the game itself so I never finished it.

Have been completely unsuccessful at playing this, so far, on my Windows Vista computer. Attempts to contact the makers of the game, Dreamcatcher, have been unsuccessful as well. Windows compatibility function does not work. I get a "projector skeleton" error. I really wanted a challenging puzzle game to play, but this was a waste of money as it seems my computer is "too new" to play it on.

It was not clearly listed by the seller that this requires a dinosaur computer to play it on.

5.0 out of 5 stars Challenging, December 30, 2009

This is an unbelievable game. The genius that went in to programming this is something else. It will challenge all the perceptive and logic thinking atoms in your brain. The first safe you find will provide a decent amount of challenge for some, since there are no instructions on what to do to crack it, and nothing more than a few subtle hints from the character you're playing. You must however, crack this safe in order to roam through other parts of the mansion. I solved this one fairly fast, but I have seen reviews on other sites that state they were not able to figure it out and gave up on the game. You will feel a great sense of accomplishment when you finally crack any of the safes in this game. There are no instructions on how to open any safe you run across so you will need to use all your wits to figure them out.

Some of the safes are fairly easy to crack, but there are some that will take you anywhere from 20 minutes to possibly an hour or so to figure out. I was stuck on several safes for quite some time, thinking I was never going to figure it out. At that point I just put it up for a while and came back to it and was able to sovle it. In a lot of cases the answer to cracking the safe you are working on is hidden in plain view, but not neccesarily near that safe. One must traverse the mansion to find all the clues that will open every safe.

When you run across a 4 digit combination to open a lock, you will not need to go through the 9,000 possible combinations to open it...lol There is an answer for each and every 4 digit lock hidden in the game. The slidder puzzles were the most challenging to me because there is no answer to it in the game. You must use your mind to figure these out. I did however, crack all 35 safes in under 20 hours of game play. You do spend a lot of time going from room to room and upstairs and downstairs to find additional clues and safes to ulock. All in all one of the most challenging games I have ever run across, for those who like to use their minds. It was even more challenging than the Nacny Drew games! Well worth the price.

4.0 out of 5 stars fun and challenging, April 10, 2011

My wife and I both really enjoyed this game. The puzzles are challenging but not so difficult that they become frustrating. The graphics are good, but moving around took some getting used to. You can't move the mouse too quickly or you will get seasick as the screen swirls and sways. We are hoping for a sequel....

Admittedly I don't have a lot of experience, but of the dozen or so puzzle games my wife and I have played, this is easily the best. Excellent variety and difficulty, and I have to admit we did have to consult the walk through at one point. If the hidden object games are getting a bit stale, this will add a little "Puzzle Stimulus" to your life!

4.0 out of 5 stars Don't let the cover scare you, May 3, 2010

There isn't a single tumbler style, put the stethoscope to the metal, sand your finger tips knob in the whole game.

If you have played anything in the Professor Layton series in Nintendo DS, many of the puzzles will seem very familiar. The fact that they open safes is incidental. They are puzzles, and the safes are the reason for their existence in the mansion. There are non-safe puzzles, also. (not many)

One puzzle is absurdly simple, and one is so close to random as to be very difficult. The rest require some time, and supply a reasonable challenge. The game does seem too short, but then, after Professor Layton, anything seems short.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not quite what I expected but lots of challenging fun, December 5, 2009

This game was bought as a gift for me since I absolutely love adventure games. I expected more search and find type of gameplay but this game is mostly figuring out how to unlock this billionaire's dozens of safes. Challenging and fun, I thoroughly enjoyed the gameplay after I got used to the way it is played. I very much enjoyed how you can choose the ending. Very unique. I went through and played every ending just to see what would happen. Some of the safes have to be unlocked in order, ie: unlock one safe will give you a clue to unlock another one. yet there are some that are just common sense and quick wittedness. Don't give up! They are not as difficult as they look.
