Smells awful but really works!,

I've had a huge problem with cabbage worms and other caterpillars destroying my herbs. While traditional chemical pesticides worked fairly well, I never felt all that comfortable eating my herbs after spraying them with those chemicals. When I read about BT (Bacillus thuringiensis), I thought it sounded too good to be true...a bacterium that kills caterpillars but is absolutely harmless to humans, pets, and bees. I'm so glad I tried Safer Brand Caterpillar Killer with BT! I sprayed my sad, moth-eaten herbs with BT a couple times a week for 2 to 3 weeks and I'm happy to say that there are no signs of caterpillars and my plants have really come back to life! The spray smells awful but the smell dissipates quickly and it works so I don't really care about the transient odor. I definitely recommend this product!

It Works Great!,
By Now I don't know for 100% sure if it is the every three day hard spraying with the 16oz spray bottle, perhaps knocking the newly layed eggs off or it is the BT alone or a combination but whatever it is ... it works!!

Review from a professional landscape gardener,

I wouldn't recommend spraying this on everything - after all, caterpillars turn into the moths and butterflies that pollinate our gardens!
But if you have a plant that's sustaining caterpillar damage, this is the most specific spray available to combat only that pest. In organic gardening, specific is better since you're only killing the pest that's a problem and not the bees and beneficials in the garden. I've been using Bt for years on roses and fruit trees with caterpillar issues. It's always preferable to just replace any susceptible plants with a sturdier variety, but if you have one or two that need help, this is the way to go.

Knocked the Caterpillars Down and my plants really grew!,

I grow vegetables and perpetually battle worms on my cabbage and broccoli. I decided to give BT a try as many of my home remedies helped but didn't stop the worms. There are so many cabbage moths flitting around our garden it almost looks like a snow globe scene.
Using the directions on the bottle and a hand held sprayer, I applied it to my heavily infested plants. 12 hours later . . . ZERO live caterpillars! The broccoli really took off and grew once the bug pressure was gone. The BT kept the worms knocked down for about two weeks until the next generation of cabbage moth worms hatched. Then I reapplied with the same great results. I will never stop using this product.

Killed bagworms,

Earlier this spring, I happened to notice this odd cocoon-like thing attached to one of our evergreen shrubs. Upon further inspection, it obviously was alive and there were more of them. Some things just disturb me, and this was one of those things. So I went on about my day and tried to forget this encounter.
This was my mistake. I should have immediately researched those things. Since they use the tree or shrub they're in to make their "case," they blend right in. Within months those few bagworms(I have since learned) had, to my horror, turned into thousands unnoticed. The shrubs were absolutely covered and were emitting an ominous white noise (due to the bagworms moving and munching on the shrub). This product killed all the bagworms within a couple days. They're all still attached to the shrub, but they're dead. The smell is rather foul. Think thanksgiving gravy from last year. It made me a little noxious when I first opened it, but it doesn't bother me anymore. I don't know if the shrubs are going to make it. If we get new ones, I'll apply this stuff often.

This stuff works,
It saved my red maple trees from being consumed by gypsy moths and cankerworms. Previous review cites health concerns. I've used BTK for 2 years now without a mask, and I feel fine. In fact, better now than I did before I started using it!

Just the best!,

This stuff is the best! I tried several other "gentle" products and they didn't seem to work at all. If you're serious about wanting to get rid of caterpillars or tired of seeing just the veins of leaves left after the caterpillars "have dinner", this is the stuff to use!

I got caterpillars on my tomatoes last year that ate holes in them. The first sign of them was eaten leaves. I never noticed the caterpillars themselves until after there were holes in the tomatoes. I started early this year. I noticed that the leaves were eaten. I sprayed this stuff on, and the leaves haven't been eaten since I sprayed it.
I read a lot about this product before I bought it. Beware that if you have honey bees, it will kill them. Also, this is not a chemical that kills every type of insect. It only kills certain insects. It's a naturally occurring bacteria that puts a hole in their digestive tract. I was worried that the high temps during shipping might kill the bacteria, but I think that they are okay. As I stated before, my leaves haven't been eaten since I sprayed this. This is also good for the type of worms that eat corn. Anyway, it worked for me, and since I don't have any honey bees visiting my tomatoes, I didn't feel guilty about spraying it. I also use the safer brand insecticidal soap and neem oil. They seem to work very well also.

I sprayed my tomato plants with BT after I noticed quite a few green inch worms. The next day they were dead. Works great, very happy with this product.
