Product Description

Editorial Review

Protect your children (and pets) from squeezing through balcony and stairway railings with this durable, weather-resistant playard netting. Suitable for either indoor or outdoor use, this washable white mesh netting adjusts to fit most railings measuring up to 33 inches high and 10 feet long. For shorter railings, simply roll back the netting to fit the desired area, or for longer railings, connect two Railnets together with the provided hardware. Railnet is easily installed with eyes that screw directly into your railing or can be tied with 200-pound polycord that is secured through holes in the nylon binding. --Deb Oroszlan

Product Description

This durable mesh guard installs easily on any type of railing or balcony to protect children and pets from falling through rails. Railnet measures 10' long and stands 33" high.

5.0 out of 5 stars A must-have., May 24, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st Railnet (Baby Product)
These things are great. If you've got banisters, stair rails, balustrades, second floor, basement, decks, whatever, you need these. The banister in our two-story house had gaps between the upright posts that were bigger than, say, the tiny gaps now mandated for cribs. The worry, of course, is that a baby or toddler could squeeze between the gaps and take a bad fall. And gaps that don't look that big might be large enough for a head to get stuck between, even if the shoulders won't go through. We found that the netting stayed nice and tight, although you should check the securing ropes periodically. My only complaint is that the nets are not terrific-looking, but if you've already got baby gates, outlet covers, cabinet locks and all the rest of it, you're not going to care much about the look. The added safety in your home is worth the short-term aesthetics hit.

3.0 out of 5 stars Difficult to install and High maintenance, June 30, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st Railnet (Baby Product)
There isn't much of a choice out there, so I have no products to compare this to, but I don't care for this item much. I had to install loop type screws into the finished wood base of my railing to secure it at the bottom (otherwise the netting can be slid up on the rails) and on my wall and the nylon ties that come with it are always slipping loose. If your child pulls on the netting, it comes loose very quickly, no matter how many knots you tie in the darn things. I hate having all those holes in my wood and wall, but I guess I have no other choice if I'm going to keep my kids safe. I could have screwed them into the floor where the carpet meets the bannister base, but then they would be in the way when vacumming. It would be nice if they could come up with something less permanent and destructive for indoor railings.

4.0 out of 5 stars Works great..., March 12, 2003

It's not the best looking thing, but it works great, and you don't have to make a life-time commitment. I have used this for two different railings. It worked well for a straight railing, but it's not good for stairs, or anything that would be on an angle.
