Don't judge a book by it's cover!!!!,

At first glance, this seems to be a wonderful kit.... or at least one thinks so. It comes in a "sturdy" hard plastic case, and seems to carry the most essential products. The products in themselves appear to be top of the line with rubberized handles and even magnifying glasses. It seems to say safety and security. Well our baby has yet to arrive but I had an emergency with a very sick little 4 year old in which I was forced to break out "the kit". And man was I sorely disappointed. The thermometer is not lit and hard to read, and to top it off it doesn't even beep when it is done, so you have to sit there and continually watch it. When it says it only takes 90 seconds... it is lying!! I was there holding blasted thing under her arm for 3-4 minutes, every 3-4 hours when she was due for her tylenol or motrin... GRRRRR!!! The other wonder I was initially awed by was the handy medicine dispenser. Two words.... IT SUCKS! It was impossible to get the medicine all the way into the syringe without leaving a significant portion in the cup, and the plunger itself took an act of congress to pull!!! We tried everything, even turning the darned thing upside down. All I know is I am a veteran mom of 3, and I know from experience when you have a cranky, sick toddler, THE LAST thing you want to fidget with is an unreliable medicine dispenser!!! You have enough of a fight just to get the medicine into the child without fighting with the dispenser too!!! In the end the cheap one the drug store sent was WAY better!!! Save your money and time and spend it on something else or even better yet make your own with all the products YOU like most :) And BTW, they are right... all the equipment inside the kit does fall out and all over the place. Really... Safety 1st could have done a MUCH better job!!!

The plastic case is awful,

This kit represents overall good value in terms of the contents, since a single digital thermometer costs ... It could include a scissor. However when we first opened the hard plastic case, half of the contents fell out, since they are not secured inside it. Additionally the case is difficult to carry by the handle (there's no hole) and is not securely closed. Not to mention its bulkyness. We returned it and bought Nursery and Bath Care Set by Summer Infant Products. For additional [money] you get a few more extra items, all secured in elastic loops in a compact pouch.

Sturdy but NOT worth the money,

I, like others, registered for this item because it had everything I needed in 1 convenient, STURDY, package. My son is now 4 months old and I've discovered that the only items in this case worth having are the hairbrush, comb, nail clippers, and tooth brush. Thermometer is WORTHLESS, doesn't beep, and is hard to read. The magnifying glasses distort and actually make it harder to see, NOT easier. Pulling the stopper on the medicine dispenser is like pulling teeth. I don't have any problem opening the case one handed, but it's really hard to close it because several of the items continuously fall out of their slots. Save your money and buy your favorite items seperately and buy a little travel makeup bag to hold them in.

SUCKS!,

I registered for this thinking it would be great. Everything I need. RIIIIGHHHTTT.. haha.. The only things in it I can use are the nail clippers (but I cannot use the magnification because it distorts everything and I cannot see my sons nails), the hair brush which is nice, the comb which is nice, and the nail files which I dont like anyways because the chalkboard scrapping sound lol. The thermometer [stinks]! It doesn't beep so you dont know wen its done. You have to watch for it to blink or something like that and it only blinks a few times so if u miss it ur gonna sit there for a LOOOONNG time but hey it takes a long time to work anyways. The medicine dropper is TOO hard to pull out and push in. And the tweezers are very flimsy

I LOVE this set!! The hard plastic case keeps things from being broken/lost if bounced or dropped (I have a 5 yr old who is very inquisitive and likes to see all his sister's stuff). If the items are in the case properly, each snaps into it's own hole and stays there until you take it out.I love the fingernail clippers with magnifying glass -- it makes cutting those tiny little nails easier -- what a wonderful idea. Amazing someone didn't think of it sooner. I don't use the emery boards for her fingernails. If cut properly, I don't need them, but they are nice to have in a pinch for myself. The tweezers, again with a magnifying glass, are probably the best things I've ever owned!! I don't use them so much with the baby, but use them quite a bit for my 5 yr old who is forever getting a splinter from something. We've used them for ourselves, too, to remove bee stingers. They may not have a use for newborn, but will be EXTREMELY useful later on. The brush and comb are just that, a brush & comb with a very nice rubbery handle that makes them easy to hold -- not cheap plastic like most. I haven't had the opportunity to use the medicine dropper so I don't know how it will work. Based on my other experiences with Safety First products, I don't imagine it'll be a problem. One thing I did learn READ THE DIRECTIONS and things truly do work much better!! The thermometer is easy to use & read. I've (unfortunately) had opportunity to use it more than once and while I HATE using a rectal thermometer, with a newborn, it is the best. This can be used rectal, underarm, or mouth. Of course, now that it's been used rectally, it will remain a rectal thermometer. I think it's wonderful, though, to have the options of how you want to use it without purchasing a type-specific thermometer. This is a great set for children of any ages. I received it as a shower gift and my best friend has my gratitude!! I LOVE IT!!

WASTE OF MONEY!,

The thermometer takes a VERY long time to work, if it even beeps at all. The medicine dropper is awkward. The case is hard to open especially if you have a child in your hands. It's pointless, more of a hassle than what it is worth. I think that this product was a waste of money!

It is nice to have one of everything in case you need it. I found the thermometer to be good for my 7 month old. You do have to hold it there for a while, but it gets the job done. I was not satisfied with the nail clippers with magnifier.
The nail clippers were not sharp enough and it was a hassle to try to deal with the magnifier. For some reason we had better luck with the nail clippers that we received that were bought separately by themselves. They are made by the same company but work 100% better. I use the brush, thermometer and the emory board the most out of this kit.

I received this as a baby shower gift and thought it would be great, everything you need there in one convenient case - the case turned out to be not so convenient. Every time you open it you have to use both hands and then all the things inside fall out at you. Eventually I gave up, threw the case away and just put everything in a little plastic makeup bag. I don't use the magnifying glass on the clippers, they seem to be in the way instead of helping. I haven't used the medicine dispenser yet, but otherwise all the pieces work well. I would recommend that you purchase a kit that has the zipper opening and little elastic bands to hold everything in it's place instead of this kit.
