Works great, easy to install.

They are a bit bulky and when we are using the stove and flip the safety knob open, they get in the way of opening and closing the oven door.

I agree with the other one-star reviewers here -- had I come to Amazon first, I would not have wasted my money. I got these because our two-year-old grandson was staying with us and, being a curious kid who likes to push every button and turn every knob in sight, he was soon trying to turn on the gas oven and stove. So we got and installed these covers. Within minutes he discovered them -- and became even MORE fascinated with the stove! He immediately began spinning them around on the knobs, and it took less than a minute for him to figure out that if you pull upward, the cover and the knob come right off together! Now he had a fascinating new "rattle" to carry around -- and probably lose my stove knob in the bargain. Our solution? We took the real knobs off the stove, period. We keep them in a high cupboard and only get one out when we need it to cook. As for these clear covers, they're are still in the closet -- maybe I can use them to display insect specimens or something? Useful as knob locks they are NOT!

Save your eight dollars and just take off the knobs for a while. I store them in a locked cabinet and then when I cook I just put them back on then remove them when Im done. Then when your child is old enough just put them back on. I have found this to be the easiest method of protection concerning stoves.

PS I also had the same problems as below thats how I came to this idea

-As soon as we installed the covers, the first thing my husband and I noticed was how difficult they were to open for cooking. The plastic pieces you need to push on to open the covers do not give.

-The covers come apart very easily and fall off, exposing the stove knobs.

-The covers are not heat resistant. That doesn't make sense to me since they are meant to be used on stoves. If you leave the oven door open for just a few minutes, of if your oven has vents under the knobs, the covers melt and warp right away.

-The worst part was, my 9 month old daughter was easily able to pull the covers (with knobs) off completely.

We bought this because one day my cat decided to put our gas stove on. Scared the life out of me so I decided to try these, they work great. I don't know about kids, no kids in my household but if you need it for your cats then buy it!

We have an american pitbull terrier who one day tried to gas us with our stove. So we looked around for something to child proof the kitchen. These things are great because they don't look intrusive, are easy to use, and effective against dogs. Whether or not they work on children I have no idea, but if your dog ever tries to gas you, get these.

I was surprised by the number of mediocre to negative reviews of these after I sent a friend here to buy them for her grandson. I get what people are saying and why they wrote negative reviews, but they did however, work for us and I will buy more now that my daughter can reach the knobs.

First off, regarding melting, presently we have a range - nothing below to generate heat, so no issue there. However we did have a freestanding stove and didn't have a melting problem probably because of both the angle of our control panel and the fact that we have small children and we would never leave our oven open, even cracked.

Yes, my son eventually learned how to open these up once he was tall enough to see what he was doing. Prior to this we never gave him a chance to learn how to open them up - if he was fiddling around with them at the stove he was told "no" and removed.

My knobs don't easily come off, so the whole thing coming off wasn't an issue for us. Removing the knobs is a great option - if you don't have a husband like mine who would never ever remember where I put them. ;-)

I liked these if anything, for me. On two occasions I came in and dropped loads of groceries on every surface - including the stovetop - and bumped a knob and accidentally turned a burner on. (I won't have that problem now with my gas range.) But it was enough to make me think about buying knob covers for my clumsiness.

We couldn't use these covers because our stove knobs have to be pushed in to light the gas stove. The backs on these cases are flat and have a small opening for the peg to go through before you reinsert the knob. If you have to push your oven knobs in to turn on the stove, this will absolutely not work. They seem to be made of pretty sturdy plastic and they shut nicely. I was looking forward to using them, but we're just going to have to remove the knobs after every use, and keep a closer eye out for hands that turn up or down the heat when the stove is lit... They would probably work well on an electric stove, since they don't have to be lit.

These covers are fine. They do the job their supposed to do but are extremely annoying (like most child-proof products)! They are hard to open but after a little while, they get easier. I put them on early (my daughter is 3 months old) so they won't be something new to interest my daughter once she's a toddler. To her, they'll be the same old knobs that have always been there.
