Safety 1st Bath: Whale version,
By Jenni McW (Tacoma, WA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety 1st Complete Care Bath Center (Baby Product)
This bath works well with babies who are too long for smaller infant tubs but not yet sitting on their own. Thanks to the cradle, it lets baby lay back while still allowing room for them to kick their legs without hitting the end of the bath.
However, it must be noted that the other review that mentions it not holding water is not true. When put together correctly, the floor of the bath snaps in place. If this is not done, yes it will leak water. I have had no problems with this bath leaking water. The reason it does not get a higher score from me are for these reasons: 1. The floor of the bath has a ledge that introduces an uneven surface in the tub--half of floor of the bath is actually about an inch higher than the other half. This is not a big deal when using the cradle, but must be noted when the child can sit upright (as you would obviously want to sit his/her bum on the higher portion). 2. The bath also locks in on the sides. After using the bath, it is sometimes difficult to unlock the sides. It's awkward more than difficult, I guess, but it does seem that an easier option could have been implemented. Overall, the bath is good purchase; it comes with lots of accessories and can easily grow with a child from infancy. The bath slides to a smaller size for storage but expands nicely for use.

Other Reviews Not Accurate,
This review is from: Safety 1st Complete Care Bath Center (Baby Product)
I have the whale version and actually my 18 month old daughter still uses it and loves it. Our jacuzzi tub is too big and slippery for her so this tub works excellent. It has to be completely open and I never used the sling. I have the whale version so I use the little whale sponge for her to sit on so she won't slide and she sits on the side opposite to where the water drains. I am not sure if everyone else received a defective tub, but mine definitely does not leak. I fill it up to the top and after all the splashing and playing, the water is still to the top. Hope this helped those trying to decide.

FANTASTIC tub,

I LOVE this baby bathtub. It was one of the deepest ones giving me the choice of how deep I wanted to make it. It also came with a 'hammock' that fit the baby perfectly from when he was born until he got longer than the tub (7 months?).
DEFFINETLY recommend this item!!!

ok tub,
This review is from: Safety 1st Complete Care Bath Center (Baby Product)
I got this tub as a resent for my newborn this year. Every time I use it, it leaks water, most of the time it's a slow leak, but still you can't have your child in there for too long. There is also 2 "hook" things that I don't know what are for. It looks like they are for a cushion or something to lean the baby on, but there's no directions so I'm not sure. I guess this tub is ok, but I probably won't use it for very long, especially when he is sitting up.

Buy another tub,

It leaks. We tried everything and ended up putting a towel under it to avoid a bigger mess. It also has sharp corners on the bottom that are hard to clean, but that's not such a big deal.
The sponge worked for newborn, but my baby is 3 months old and normal size and doesn't really fit well any more. Also, his back side rubs against the "step" created by the folding feature when on the sling. That can't be comfortable. We're buying another tub.

Tub doesn't hold water,
By
This review is from: Safety 1st Complete Care Bath Center (Baby Product)
The tub slides together a few inches to make it smaller for storage, and pulls out to snap into place for use. But when the tub is actually in use, water leaks out--making this bathtub a horribly useless waste of plastic just destined for landfill. Terrible design. One poster noted that when properly snapped in place the tub won't leak. I have spent nearly an hour trying to figure this thing out, to no avail. The tub doesn not come with instructions, and I don't have any more time to waste on this piece of junk. I was going to give this away, but I don't want the bad karma that would result in causing another busy parent this same frustration.

doesn't hold water,

This item gets three stars because of all the products you get for the price: the whale sponge, rinse pitcher, whale wash cloth, and infant sling. The actual tub does not hold water because there is space where it "folds up for convenience." If you fill the tub up you have about 10 seconds to give your kid a bath.

It didn't take much use until it started leaking. What a waste of money. Very disappointing!

Ok tub,

This tub is ok. It was REALLY HARD to snap the locking part on the bottom so it doesn't leak-my husband had to do it. My son is 3 1/2 months old, and the sling is really convenient for me...but his back touches the locking thing on the bottom, and I don't think he likes that. And I think he would have a lot more fun in the bath if he could sit up more. He's always straining to sit up. Overall, it is a cute tub and it worked ok a month ago, but it has awkward design and I think my son would like another tub better.

Worked great for my newborn, but only for a few months,

I got this product as a hand-me-down from a friend, and I only have the tub and the sling, so I can only comment on those items. I started out bathing my little guy in the kitchen sink, but it was inconvenient to make sure the sink was clean at bathtime (because with a newborn, who KNOWS when the dishes will get done, right?). So I put this sling and little tub into the "grownup" bathtub and filled the little tub halfway. It was great! I love that the sling gently held the baby's head above the water, so I didn't have to keep a hand under him the whole time and therefore had both hands free to wash all his little bits. I could fill the little tub halfway in about 30 seconds, and empty it instantly by turning it over and dumping the water. The little drain plug is a joke. Not only would it take forever for the water to come out through the tiny hole, but it's on the bottom and flush with whatever surface is underneath, so you have to hold the tub up a bit for the water to come out. Might as well tip and dump. Once my little guy got to be about 24" long, this little tub was too short (he likes to kick) and we switched to the PRIMO EuroBath Transparent Blue.
