Works for us,

This review is from: Safety 1st The Curve Gate White (Baby Product)
We got and returned quite a few gates. I didn't want to spend a lot of money and got tired of ordering and having to return things that didn't work. My space is 33 on the bottom and 34 on the top and for some reason a lot of pressure mount walk through gates seem to skip from 33 to 35. To small without the extention too big with it. Anyway I got this gate because I was out of options and didn't want to have my 18 month old fall down the stairs. It was easy to install. Yes if you screw the screws straight into drywall they will come right back out. Thats not rocket science. We do have crappy walls in our townhouse so we had to ancor some of the screws. It comes with a template and that makes it very easy to install. Its two sided so you have to watch for that. It took my husband and I about 30 minutes to get this installed and working. I give it 4 stars because it does what I need it to do but not exactly as I wanted. It is easy to open and close and when properly installed my daughter can climb onto te ledge and hold on for a few seconds and it doesn't move. After I installed it both my husband and I pulled and pushed on it and it held up well. We have been using it for about a month now and I'm used to it. My husband can walk up the stairs and just step right over it, and he can do the same thing going down as well. My cat seems to be okay jumping over it going up and down. The curve makes it so I you can get closer to the top of the stairs and the latch before you have to open it. If something goes wrong with it and I would not recommend it anymore I will come back and edit this review.

Great Innovative Gate,

I purchased this gate because I liked the idea of the extra space on the bottom step. I think having a gate on the bottom step is just as important as the one on the top of the stairs. My problem is that I am over 6' so as you could imagine it was hard to lean over from the 2nd step, while holding a child, to unlock a typical gate. THIS GATE WORKS PERFECTLY! Once installed I found it easy to use. I purchased one for my house and 1 for each of the grandparents.

Good for Short Parents,

This is a great gate. I bought it because I'm not quite 5' tall. Because of the curve of this gate, I can step over it from the top step instead of from the second step, which I wouldn't be able to do.
I attached it to a 2x4 cable-tied to the banister on one side and used MY OWN 4" drywall screws to attach it to the wall and stud on the other side. Seems secure to me. My 19 mo old learned how to hang on it and it still stands strong. We've had it about a year now. It gets 4 stars for 2 very small reasons: the wheel doesn't glide very easily on my carpet, so we have to lift slightly to open and close it smoothly. Also, you'll have to slam this thing to have the latch catch. It's a good latch, but the closing is loud. To keep this from waking sleeping babies, close it before the babies are asleep and step over it when they are.
