Must Have for travel!,

We travel extensively with our now 14 month old daughter, and I love this chair! We bought this chair to replace one of those that attach to a table - we were rarely able to use it because of the way many tables were shaped. What we like: So far, there is nothing we don't like, although the small storage compartment is really to small for anything other than a spoon and a napkin - but I don't know what I'd store in there, anyway.

Good for Travel - better than many,

This little booster folds up compactly and even has a spot to attatch the tray when folded, a feature not available on many boosters. This model has sturdy legs that fold up into the bottom of the seat for a shorter seating level and pop securely in place for a higher seating level. The straps are permanently attatched to the seat and the ones that secure the seat to a chair conveniently roll up into the seat base - no danglers to trip on and no loose straps to lose. I haven't seen this feature on any other booster seat that we have looked at or tried. It also has a handle built into the front of the seat that makes carrying easier. It is true that the tray position is not adjustable, but both my 11 month old daughter and big 2-1/2 year old son fit well in this seat with or without the tray. Besides, with its height adjustment, simply strap it to a chair and push it right up to the table - no need for a tray with bigger kids. This is an excellent choice for high chair and booster seat use especially on the go.

Great booster for the price,

We recently purchased this booster to replace the Fold-Up Booster Seat that has gone to live at Grandma's. Since they are made by the same company, similarly priced, and this one has some added features, we decided to upgrade to this newer design. I am so glad we went with this one! Not only is it more compact than the other booster, it is easier to use. I love the retractable straps, as the straps on our other booster got lost, and we had to come up with new ones. Also, the tray attaches to the seat, so no more dropping it in the parking lot of the restaurant while carrying the booster, tray, diaper bag, and baby. The storage compartment is a little small, but it works fine for a few disposable bibs, and a sample-size package of wipes. They tray fits into the dishwasher, so no more scrubbing crusted food off the tray. I agree with other reviewers that the tray is a little snug, and probably won't fit a 4 year-old as the manufacturer recommends, but it fits my 2 year-old just fine with a little room to wiggle (and he's not a skinny toddler). I guess by the time he's 4, he'll be old enough to sit up to the table without the tray anyways. The only complaint I have about this seat is that it would be nice if the restraint straps were washable, but I guess they wouldn't be very secure if they came off the seat, so I can live with them the way they are. As long as you wipe them down with a washcloth or wipe before any food dries on them, they come pretty clean anyway. Other than that, I couldn't be happier with this booster. Just remember, you get what you pay for. This is an inexpensive, portable booster. If you want large, sturdy, and completely washable, buy a highchair! This is just an occasional substitute.

I got this booster seat for my daughter who is 14 months. I travel a lot so i liked the way it folds up nice. I have only one problem with this seat: The legs don't stay locked in the position when it is set up. It doesnt really matter because once the child is in it its not going to move. I totally love the retractable straps. this was another reason that i purchased it. I had the 3 level booster with tray by Especially for Kids and i hated the way that the straps hung when i was transporting it. This seat also has a crotch strap which is essential for a wiggling baby. Overall I love this chair and would recommend it to everyone.

Decent booster, but a food trap,
This review is from: Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat (Baby Product)
We bought this booster while we were on vacation, and needed a high chair for our youngest (just under 1 at the time). It worked great for her as a high chair replacement, though the tray is too small to hold most plates. When we got home, we continued to use this as a booster for our 30-month old. It works great (without the tray), but there's something to be aware of. This seat is hollow, and the holes that let you attach the tray also work very well for storing macaroni and other food items (the holes where the straps come out work too, but are not as convenient to reach as the holes for the tray -- look at the picture and you'll probably see what I mean). We contacted the manufacturer, and they assured us there is no safe way to take apart the chair to clean the inside, or to remove food items that have been tucked away. If you don't like the idea of 12-month-old spaghetti sitting there somewhere inside the booster, it's not bad...but I'm really disappointed that a booster designed for kids would have this type of flaw.

Second choice to The First Years Portable Booster Seat,
By Ying (CA, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat (Baby Product)
We tested this booster seat on our 9-mth old son. The pros and cons are as follows:(a) sleek design when folded (which was much nicer looking than the TFY's design), (b) had a small handy compartment at the back of the backrest for keeping other stuff like tissue, (c) tray could be kept away by being attached to the base. This made it handier than the First Years Portable Booster Seat (TFY) but there is one set back - would you want your kid to be eating off the same surface that forms the exterior coat of a seat? (d) the boosted height came from turning out 2 flaps at the base of the seat - which means that the base of your chair should be the same or at least somewhat larger than this chair. otherwise, it might be unsafe; (e) retractable belts (by turning the knob at the base of the seat). neater and easier to deal with than the TFY but a bit noisy which you are cranking away at it; (f) attaching and detaching the tray was difficult because it had to be released on the sides (which was easy) AND lifted off the hook (which was near impossible with my son sitting in the seat) Also, the tray was a tad narrow. But cleaning would be difficult because the "holes" for the hook to lock on were potential food traps. ; (h) padded crotch strap (a plus but not absolutely necessary feature). Overall, the details were very thoughtful. But in the end we purchased The First Years Portable Booster Seat for the following reasons:

I purchased this booster seat for my daughter who is 9 months old. I have found that this is the perfect travel booster seat. It folds up and there is a place to use as a carrying handle, and it is the perfect height and sturdy when it is strapped into place. My daughter loves being up the same height at the table just like adults; we do not use the tray when we go out to eat, it easily attaches to basically any chair and pushes up to regular table height. I also get so much use out of this booster. I take my daughter over to her grandparent's house three times a week, and it is perfect to feed her dinner on, it is basically a portable high chair when the tray is on. I like it so much, I even use it at home sometimes!

Does the job, but definitely has some design flaws,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat (Baby Product)
We bought this seat to use when we travel or go somewhere without a highchair (trying to feed our son in a hotel room was a nightmare without a booster seat!). It is fairly compact & easy to stash in the car for a trip. As one of the other reviewers mentioned, the tray is a bit of a tight fit. My son isn't even one yet & it's almost pushing against his tummy. Also, the mechanism to retract the straps is underneath the seat, making it very difficult to reach and twist once the seat is on a chair. We keep the booster seat set up at our table so we can pop our son into it for a snack or when he refuses to eat in his high chair. He usually uses it without the tray at home & just eats off the table. A decent seat for the price, but could use some design improvements.

Not exactly what I wanted but it works well,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat (Baby Product)
I wasn't quite sure what I wanted in a booster. This one works well enough. My son is 6 months old and sits up alone well, so this works fine with him, but if he were any younger I know it wouldn't work with him. It has a tray that snaps onto the back when in the on-the-go position. It has two sets of straps for behind and under the chair, which is essential, although our kitchen chairs are not quite flat, it works better on flat chairs. It doesn't fold up very compact and the handle is only a notch in the plastic, but I have taken it out to restraunts a few times and it is very portable and light, and you can carry it and a baby at the same time. I especially like that it has a tray. I don't like those low back wooden high chairs with no tray that most restraunts have, so this is a godsend when going out to eat, but we use it everyday at home as well. It is a good booster and well worth the price, but skip it if you are looking for something fancy or really compact or something for a younger baby.

I would be lost with out this seat!!!!!!!,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st On-the-Go Fold-Up Booster Seat (Baby Product)
I guess to each their own. I have come to the conclusion after reading thousands of reviews on products that some people are never satisfied and will find the smallest thing to gripe about. I REALLY like this seat. My best friend had one and bought one for me after her son got sick from eating in a restaurant highchair. I already had an older seat that was a pain to use because it was in a million pieces and took forever to put together. This seat is 1 piece, 2 if you count the tray. It is compact, portable, light, and takes up hardly any space in my trunk and has a place to put your fingers to carry. The tray snaps on the underside and the straps wind-up into the seat. Have my straps twisted inside...yes, but they fixed themselves and did not pose a threat to my child. Does the tray fit tight..yes, but atleast the food doesn't fall down in his lap. My child doesn't have a big stomach, so the tray isn't too tight on him. Sometimes, I leave the tray off and let him eat off of the table or a plate. The clips on my tray have not broken, but my friends did and they sent her a new tray. The flap/compartment is very shallow but can hold a bib or two. Mine has never popped open like some have complained about. The legs are not hard to put in place, and they add a nice height to the chair. Now, a complaint by a reviewer that has bothered me is..the seat doesn't remove to clean....HELLO....If you go to fold the seat, you can fit a napkin, sponge whatever down there and wipe all of the crumps out (if there are any) and wipe down the seat. If your straps are dirty, take a soapy sponge to those too. I take this seat everywhere with me and would be soooo lost without it. We had a playgroup the other day with 7 moms and 8 kids and I kid you not...ALL 7 OF US CARRIED IN THE EXACT SAME SEAT....THIS ONE!!!! We all laughed and commented on how much we liked this seat!!!!
