Choose this one over the others...,

I had this chair, but I left it at my mother's house (she lives out of town). So, I thought that I'd try the "other" one made by The First Years. I returned it, and I bought another Safety First booster seat. The First Years booster seat was difficult to put together. It was difficult to tell if the seat had "snapped" into place. With this chair, on the other hand, it is very obvious whether or not it is put together correctly. Since I leave this with grandparents, I want the chair to be easy and safe, and I don't want to be required to give a lot of direction. This chair is the way to go. I had the first chair for over 6 months, but I used it only occasionally. I keep the chair in my trunk to use at the houses of friends and relatives and at restaurants that don't have high chairs. It is very handy. Now that my daughter is 1 1/2 years, I use only the chair without the tray.

A nice alternative to a high chair when traveling,

We received one of these as a gift and it has gotten quite a bit of use. It is very handy if you travel because the whole thing comes apart into flat sections. We carried it in a small suitcase on one long trip. We also used it when we visited friends or family. We are currently using it as a booster seat. It is very study and easy to assemble. I agree with one reviewer that food can get trapped in the crevices but that seems to be true of most high chairs. The nice thing about this one is that you can disassemble it and wash the sections in a kitchen sink. Overall it was a very handy item to have and I can recommend it.

A lifesaver for smaller homes,

This review is from: Safety 1st Grow-With-Me Portable Booster Seat (Baby Product)
Our house is very small, and with the plethora of baby items we had (especially in the beginning, when the swing and the bouncer and the high chair were all in the kitchen/living room) made it nearly impossible to move around. We got this booster, and we have packed away our high chair for good! It helps that our son can sit at the table with us, I believe it makes him feel more a part of things that he participates in meals with us. Although it is true that food can get into crevices/cracks easily, the chair is incredibly easy to clean up and I don't think I spend any more time cleaning this one up than I would any other normal sized high chair. It is incredibly portable, and a lifesaver when visiting friends/family. He loves the colors, the tray is simple to use and we have not had the problems with our (very strong, very active) 11 month old pushing the tray off that others have mentioned. All in all, we'll be buying another of these when our new son is born in August, because what we *do* have is four chairs around our dining table and what we *don't* have is room for a highchair! :) I can't say how much I love this product!

A must have for parents on the go!!,

We have been using this booster seat since our daughter was about 8 months old. She is now 22 months old and it is a great transitional seat from the highchair to the table. We have taken this chair on vacation instead of toting along a cumbersome highchair and it has proved to be invaluable. Just strap it to any chair and you're set for a meal. I have two small complaints. One: My daughter can hook her toes under the front edge of the tray and pull it off. Not good! And two: Because of the way the straps are positioned, she can climb out of the seat. Please keep in mind that my daughter is an overactive climber and many of our friends have not found this to be a problem with their children and this seat! These two complaints aside, I would highly recommend this chair and feel that the convenience far outways the negatives. As with any product, you should never leave any child unattended while using this seat.

A great gift!,

I was given this booster seat from a friend. I live in a really tiny house - so tiny that there is no room for a kitchen table! Because of this, at first I didn't think I would find much use for a booster seat. Was I ever wrong. I use it in the living room so my daughter can (have a dry) snack with me, play with play doh, draw, etc. I just attach the back of the chair to the coffee table leg so that the chair is stable. It is also much easier to bring along to functions as compared to a high chair. It also comes in handy when we are one high chair short, such as when we had a Passover dinner at my dad's house and my friends brought along their 2 year-old; instead of having them lug their high chair down there, I brought along the booster seat.

One of the BEST purchases I've made!,

This booster seat is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It comes in very handy when visiting family & friends (just strap it to a chair). Most restauants have high chairs, but normally not very clean, and the straps are usually missing. Our daughter has been using this seat since she was around 7 mos., she is now 2 1/2. I love that it is easy to clean, and compact; It is always in my car. I have given this booster seat as baby shower gifts, and will continue to highly recommend it.

They hold my active, table-cloth pulling triplets very well. Not all restaurants have enough highchairs available. There are two straps to strap it to any chair. One around the back and one underneath. With the tray secure and the belt secure, my 30+ lbs. toddler can't climb out and haven't knocked over their chair. It also keeps them a same distance from a table cloth.

Parents of Active Babies Beware,
By A Customer
This review is from: Safety 1st Grow-With-Me Portable Booster Seat (Baby Product)
My husband and I thought this booster seat was a great choice because of the obvious small size and convenience. However, our son is very active and is constantly on the move. We could never get the booster seat strapped to any chair tight enough to keep it from sliding around. One evening, our son managed to throw himself off balance by rocking in his booster seat as we sat near him. The chair he was in fell forward, and he landed on his mouth on the floor. He lost his first tooth that night and had his first trip to the emergency room. Unless you have a very docile child, do not trust a booster seat. Invest in a real highchair, sacrifice the space and convenience and put your child's safety first!!

Tray is awful,
By Mommy of 3 "Michele" (Indiana) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety 1st Grow-With-Me Portable Booster Seat (Baby Product)
I purchased this item 3 days ago and it is going back!! The overall quality of the seat is okay, but if you plan on using the tray it is awful!! I placed my 11 month old daughter in this and was unable to get the one side of the tray to fully latch. Well after I finally got this thing to fully latch guess what.......I couldn't get it to unlatch to get her out. The tray slides on and off REAL hard and the levers for the latch are small which make it hard to pull on them. I have an older model of the same chair which is probably 6 years old and love it, but the new and approved is WORTHLESS!! So back to the store this one will go and I will look for something different.

Had it for 4 years and getting ready to pass it on,
By Donna S. "SAHM" (Home on the range) - See all my reviews

My first son got this booster when he was 2 years old and we mostly used it when we traveled. But when my second son was born a year later, we got tired of having his big high chair in the kitchen. So when he was big enough, we strapped the booster to a chair and that was his place until a few months ago when he decided he wanted to sit in a regular chair (at almost 3).
Unlike other reviewers, I have never had any problems with the tray--either keeping it on securely or getting it off easily (I think it is kind of funny that one product can have both of these problems!). The straps have always been adjustable to fit several sizes of kitchen chairs. I will admit it saves food well--to really get out a messy meal we take it outside and shake it upsided down then take the seat out. We did sort of solve the food under the chair issue by putting a dish towel on the seat of the kitchen chair before setting the booster on it. Then all you have to do is take the booster off and fold up the towel to clean the chair underneath! I loved this chair because it meant no highchair to climb over in the kitchen! And if we needed to go visiting we could just throw it in the trunk and have a highchair wherever we needed it. I'd buy it again in a minute. But someone won't have to where I live because I am Freecycling it to someone who can get even more use out of it. By the way, this one outlasted a different brand booster that my parents' bought for their house that was used half as much and was pretty much broken in two places when they pitched it earlier this year. |
