We survived a Highway rollover accident this summer with our 5 year old in this seat.

You never think it will happen to you.

And Suddenly in an explosion of violence it is happening.

Several of the emergency personnel independently commented on the Lifesaving aspect of his seat.

They also emphasized the word "Booster" should be completely eliminated from Marketing materials for Children car seats.

A Five point harness is the best way to keep a child stabilized in the physical violence of an accident.

The "booster"s essentially cut children in half internally.

Tell all of your friends.

We survived.

And we will never use anything but a five point harness.

There are models up to 65lbs and then you can switch to another product that goes up to 80lbs.

This seat saved his life.

I LOVE THIS!!! We live in downtown Chicago and do not own a car. We usually use public transportation but, occasionally it's easier to take a cab (e.g. when going to the airport with all the luggage). I have looked EVERYWHERE for a "portable" car seat. Sunshine kids was just too heavy and did not fold small enough and our Safety 1st Tote n' Go (a backboard with a 5 point harness) was difficult to install, our son sat on an angle even when installed properly and overall it did not seem safe. I was a bit skeptical about this product - it was a bit pricey for something we will probably only use once a month or so but, my son's safety is priceless. I read the all the reviews I could find and called Safety 1st for more information on installation. I was sold when a NYC woman wrote about installing the seat in less than 90 seconds in cabs; time is precious when you are getting in and out of cabs and horns are honking at you.

The bag is fairly large (think bowling bag) but, there is a shoulder strap on the bag that does not show in the online pictures. The 9lb does not feel like 9lb - far less weight than a Graco infant seat. I'm 5'3" and it's easier to carry than my diaper bag over my shoulder. I usually take my Maclaren Quest when we use public transportation or a cab and I am able to hang the bag/booster on my Maclaren handlebars without it getting in the way of walking.

I read the instruction booklet front to back before our first trip in a cab. WOW! It really does install quickly - try 60 seconds or less! AND it is a very tight fit even using a lap belt. The main reason it is such an easy install is because the seat back is soft and folded down when you are installing the seat - you have more visibility to what you are doing and accessibility to the seat belt. After you have a tight fit you secure the back using the top tether. I found most Chicago cabs have the top tether anchor - even the cabs that look older. Every cab is different so to be able to install in such little time is amazing. I also feel this car seat is definitely safe enough to use when we travel and rent a car.

The only thing I wish this product had is backpack straps on the bag but, it's a minor gripe. This is a must-have if you live in a large city where you take cabs. If you own a car and are just looking for an everyday car seat - this is probably not for you. The child sits very upright and will have no place to sleep - I'd purchase another 5 point harness booster or car seat if I owned a car.

We purchased this product to travel with as it is light and comes with a travel bag. Unfortunately, for the child seat to work it must be attached to a hook behind the car's seat which not all cars come equipped with, especially cabs in foreign countries. If the car does not have the required hook, the seat is useless as a 5 pnt. restraint booster.

First, let me say that I love the size of the seat, I love that it is a five-point harness, I love that it folds up and is completely totable, and, according to our daughter, it's very comfortable. My daughter also loves the size of it.

The only problem I have with this seat, and many other car seats, is if you have an older car--say from the 1990s--that doesn't have hooks for the latches or some place for the tether, this seat won't work in your car with the five-point harness. Because the the back of the car seat is cloth and padding without any structural support, it will collapse if it's not tethered, or somehow otherwise secured. (No where did I find anything stating this, although it's very possible that I missed it.) You can take off the back part with the harness, but the five-point harness, and the reviews, is why I bought this seat. For just a plain booster seat, I could have paid $50.

Had I known about the requirement of the tether, I wouldn't have bought it. Fortunately, we were able to make it work in my husband's car.

I am sure I would love this product if my car was newer.

Note to car seat manufacturers: Please take into consideration that not every one owns a newer car and design seats accordingly. I am sure there is a way to make them work for both.

Title pretty much says it all. We bought the original Safeguard Go product about 2.5 years ago and it has been great. We are now planning to buy a second one in the new Safety 1st version for our younger child who is now big enough for it.

The slim design works well in our Civic backseat, making it possible for a third passenger to fit between two carseats (and that passenger will have even more room once we've got two of these "Go" seats rather than one "Go" and one bulky conventional 5-point harness carseat).

My kids are now old enough they rarely fall asleep in the car, but when my son did he never mentioned anything about being uncomfortable. The side wings of the headrest seemed to support his head well. However, since this flexible-back booster conforms completely to the seat of the car, I think the angle of the vehicle seat is probably what causes a child's head to loll forward in some vehicles. Our vehicle's seats do angle back slightly.

Anyway, one of the best things about this seat is how quick and easy it is to get a super snug, tight installation, moreso than with car seats that have a bulky, awkwardly shaped base to them. I never worry that the seat could slide around too much because it has no wiggle room whatsoever once it's in. You can easily see and feel that it's installed correctly--which to me is just as important as the safety features of the seat itself.

The fold-up design is ideal for travel. It does require full LATCH including BOTH the top and bottom tether anchors (for the 5-point harness use). If you are renting vehicles when you travel in the U.S. this should not be a problem b/c car rental agencies always have current models or only a few years old. Same with most reputable taxi services. But if we are visiting friends we always check ahead to make sure their cars accommodate. This seat probably wouldn't be the best choice for international travel for this reason. I don't consider this a drawback because this product has so many other benefits that matter for day-to-day use, so I feel it's worth the money we spent. We have "typical" 5-point harness car seats in our van so we know if we travel outside the U.S. we'd either need to take those with us or purchase seats at our destination.

The only other complaint I can think of is it might be nice to add a cupholder. :)

Overall we LOVE this seat and often recommend it to friends.

We love this seat. It's lightweight which is perfect for car pooling, moving the seat from car to car on a daily basis. It's really light, with a case, but we dont really use the case due to lack of the few minutes it would take to put it inside.

I had read somewhere that I could use this on an aircraft, maybe I was mistaken, however, make no mistake, it is not approved for aircrafts and says so on the side.

Great seat though, and I love that it's sturdy and in great colors, and will last for a long time due to it's versitality!

I bought this seat primarily as a travel seat for a preschooler who weighs less than 30lbs. It is perfect for travel, since it's light weight and comes in a travel bag that is very easy to carry and check with baggage. It's no problem to install the seat in a rental car because of the LATCH connectors, and overall I couldn't be happier with the GO.

Pros: 5 point harness; narrow for those of you who have multiple car seats or a car that doesn't have a lot of space; light and portable, hence the travel size claim; buckles are easy to adjust and is well made

Cons: the back is not rigid, it's soft so you have to harness it with a strap across the headrest; it is completely upright with very little side support which is my biggest problem with it - my son used to be able to sleep in his convertible car seat with no problem on long trips, but he can not get comfortable to sleep in this seat at all. I didn't consider that at all when picking out the seat, but now I wish I had because we often travel at night while the kids sleep and this has become a real problem for us and we have considered buying a different seat.

What a wonderful product! Its safe and reliable, great in a pinch if you have more than one car. I wanted it mainly for travel purposes. We're taking it on vacation with us in March. We want our daughter to be safe (in any cabs that we may take because we're not renting a car) and the travel bag makes it easy and portable! Its also great to just have as a "spare" in your trunk. My mother-in-law was over the other day and wanted to take my 4 yr old out to lunch but I could not give her my truck because i needed it....so I installed the Booster seat in her car and they were off! Also, my neighbor who's a very good friend, owns one too and she helps me out some mornings by taking my daughter to school. She puts the extra booster in her back seat when she gives my daughter a ride when I am unable to. I highly recommend this product. It all comes down to safety, of course.

I have two toddlers - my oldest is four and my youngest is two and a half. We previously had both children in Britax roundabouts and marathons (we bought three of each for us, grandparents and nanny), but nobody could fit in the middle seat of our Subaru Forester. So six months ago I went in search of a safe, smaller seat that could grow with us. I wanted the five point harness and excellent safety ratings. I found the Safeguard Go when they were still Safeguard and have been very pleased. The seat may seem flimsy, but it is designed to fold and the strength is where you need it (in the harness and seat). Once you figure out how to install it, it is easy to install, and it fits very securely in our cars (no sliding around). Our kids love them. Yes, they sit lower in the car than they did in the Britax, but they can get in and out themselves and can reach all the books, etc. we now have room for in the middle seat. One concern I have heard is that when the kids fall asleep, their heads fall forward. Yes, we have seen this, so this may not be the best seat if you do long trips often, but as we do not do those regularly, this is perfect for our daily trips. And we have used them for four hour trips to Tahoe without complaint or problems. We have been so pleased with these seats, we have already bought four (two for us and two for grandparents) and plan to purchase two more for the nanny.
