1.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely worthless - do not buy! July 9, 2011
I have a two year old and a one year old who alternate between mildly curious and intent upon opening cabinets with grown-man like strength! I bought several cabinet latch products to see which ones would not only be easy to install but also actually do the job of baby-proofing the kitchen.

The other reviews are correct; this product may look complicated to install, but is quite simple. It actually gives you the option of using the adhesive tape, or screwing the product in or both. I really wanted mine to hold up, so I peeled off the backs and then screwed them in as well. THEY STUCK!

The problem is the latch mechanism itself. I could open the cabinet with little force when the it was in lock mode. There are two pieces of plastic that are supposed to essentially grab each other to keep the cabinet closed. They slide right past one another, so my kids would be able to open the cabinets even when not really trying.

I'm pretty upset I tried a product so expensive that I just ended up throwing away.

The other products I bought that were similarly worthless were:
Safety First Wide Grip Latches
Safety First Press and Pivot Latches
Especially for Baby Cabinet and Drawer Latches

I HIGHLY recommend: Safety Innovations, Spring Loaded Cabinet and Drawer Latch, 4 pack
Super easy to install, (just one piece to screw in), and a Sumo wrestler on drugs couldn't get into the cabinets.

4.0 out of 5 stars Magnetic Latches January 5, 2011
By KS
After doing alot of research and trying to find latches that I don't have to drill holes into my carbinets for, I came across these. I've tried Safety 1st products and they are pretty good and their prograde line is very durable. These were a little tricky to put onto the cabinets at first. But when you get into the hang of it it goes pretty fast. I would say I got 15 cabinet and drawers done in an hour. The reason I gave it a four star is because it's adhesive and I'm just worried it'll wear out after a while. Kids will try to pull open the cabinets when they don't open. So far I had only 1 fall off. The other are doing pretty well and are sturdy and I feel good that when I decide to take them off I won't have holes to fill in my cabinets. One more complain is that they are a bit on the expensive side.

4.0 out of 5 stars Not always drill-free September 29, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase
After much frustration attempting to install these without any drilling I finally figured out that I could only use the lock with the adhesive and had to drill for the other piece it latches on (mind you I am not mechanically inclined in any way, shape or form - the average person could have likely figured this out much quicker than I did). With that being said... once I got them properly installed they are wonderful, the adhesive is very strong, as is my daughter and she pulls as hard as she can daily to try to get into the cabinets and they haven't budged. Using the key is easy and the baby won't be able to figure out how to use it for years. All in all I would recommend this product to anyone who doesn't want to completely destroy their cabinets.

2.0 out of 5 stars Latches Don't Work
These were a waste of money. They don't work once installed. My baby can easily pull door open. They are also a pain to install.

I REALLY like these locks. We've had them for a month now and our 21m old definitely can't get in the cupboards. There are absolutely no problems with the adhesive. Read more
