These work well and were easy to install.

The hooks latch easily, and with no fuss, whenever you close the cabinet, and with a little practice, opening is also quick and easy.
Andy in Washington
These come with a handy template that makes installation fairly easy, though it may take some time for marking, drilling, etc..

After trying multiple types of safety locks for my single cabinet doors and drawers, I finally ordered these even though they were a bit more expensive than similar ones. They work better than anything else I've tried, have the feature to "disengage" them when your little one gets bigger or when you are trying to open them multiple times (like while unloading the dishwasher). And the BEST feature has to be the installation template - made installing them a piece of cake compared to anything else involving drilling.

In don't think my baby will be figuring this out
anytime soon because it's so difficult for an adult to open. Am giving it a 4 because of the installation.

It does a great job keeping our cats out of our cabinets/drawers. The instructions were a little hard to understand, it took about 10 minutes before my husband fully understood it but after that the installation of each latch took about 5 minutes. I am knocking off a star for the poor instructions, the high price and the stiffness of the pivot. Otherwise it's a great product!

I'm not an expert of child latches, but I find that these saftey latches work fairly well. Also the fact that you can "disable" them is a nice feature when the kids are away at the grandparents'.

I bought 3 packets of these latches, and installing them was fairly easy once you figure out the instructions + sticky guide. In the package there are these stick on templates which are confusing at first, but really smart. Basically you stick on a template to the cabinet frame where you can mark the holes for drilling. Then you remove the otherside of the doublesided sticky, and then you close the cabinet door on the sticky. Since it's doublesided, it sticks to the cabinet door, and the other side of the template shows you were to drill the holes on the cabinet door. I know ... confusing, but it works.

I did have 2 gripes about the latches that made me give it 3 stars.

1. There weren't enough screws. There should be 16 screws total, for the 8 pieces that come in the package. Out of the 3 packages, only 1 set had a full 16 screws. The others had 15 and 14 screws. It's extremely frustrating to have to stop in the middle and run out to the local HomeDepot to get 3 small wood screws. If they're going to mess up on the screw count, at least give me more ... not less :P

2. The cabinet pre-drill template is slightly too wide. If you've done any kind of drilling in the past, you'll know that pilot holes are pretty important to get the width right. If you follow the templates, the holes will be too far apart. This can be extremely problematic, because if you try to put in the screws at an angle, you can easily splinter the wood and the screw may not take. This was what happened to me on my first go. Luckily I hadn't pre-drill all the holes first.

This is definitely a solid latch to keep the kids out, but there are some definite product refinements that they need to address.

As grandparents we only need our cabinets and drawers to lock when we have our little grandson over. After spending the last year constantly removing and reinstalling the standard child safety latches, these things are a godsend. The fact that you can simply switch them off makes them worth their weight in gold. And they are no more expensive than the fixed ones and do as good a job when engaged. I wish I had found them sooner. I plan to replace all the latches with these except the one for the medicine cabinet.

And that brings me to the only possible negative of these latches and only 4 stars. If you have small children in the house every day, you may as well go with the latches that can not be turned off. All it takes is one time forgetting (and you will) to re-engage the latch and tragedy can follow. That's why my medicine cabinet will never have one of these. That being said, for us occasional child watchers, nothing can beat these things.

As for those with problems with the instructions or installation, really? I never opened the instructions and had the first one installed in about 1 minute. I don't know how much simpler it could be.

I really wanted to like these but for several reasons they don't work well. Basically there are several features of the design that make it so that the door will not open enough for you to disengage the lock. The item is not long enough and is at such an angle that you need to reach really far in. I really liked the other Safety First cabinet locks but thought these would be even better because they could fold down. These actually don't work for me at all and I'm going to have to order some of the other Safety First locks. I hope they can combine the best of both at some point in the future.

You have to destroy the packaging to get the instructiuons, and find out that these don't work on some cabinets (with inset panels so that the back of the cabinet door has 2 levels of thickness), and drawers (with a front panel attached to the front of the actual drawer). They seem to be of good quality though. The plastic is really strong-Nylon actually. Too bad I can't use them.

Update: It looks like these will work on some of my drawers which are also faced. There has to be a gap at the top of the drawer though, so that the catch doesn't block the path of the inside front of the drawer. Otherwise, the drawer won't close all the way.

I'd really prefer to have one kind of lock that fits the cabinets and the drawers, so I (or guests) don't have to guess whether to grab a magnet, or go for a latch. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like such a lock exists.
