The Safety 1st Secure Lock Bed Rail offers additional security by attaching at the top of the mattress instead of adjacent to the mattress like traditional syle bedrails. A color coded safety position indicator lets the parent know when properly positioned and locked. This eliminates possible entrapment position between bed and bed rail. The Secure Lock bed rail meets new ASTM bed rail standards.

Product Description

Keep your child safe and secure during bedtime with this Safety 1st secure lock bed rail. It is designed to fit securely at the top of the mattress (which is safer than adjacent-style bed rails), and provides a full 12” of protection while eliminating possible entrapment issues between the mattress and bed rail. Its color-coded safety position indicator lets parents know when it’s properly positioned and locked. Also includes a convenient fold-down position for easy access to child and sheet changing and a securely constructed frame with a soft, comfortable cover. Bed rail extends to 44” and accommodates mattresses from 4–10”. Product meets the new ASTM bed rail standards. Minimal assembly is required. Imported.

It's always important to read the bad reviews to see the real reason why people don't like a product. In some cases, it's just ignorance that leads to a bad review. In the case of this bed rail, I saw that many people said (1) it doesn't fit thick mattresses and (2) it comes unlocked.

All I can say is that if you're having these problems, then you're just not following the directions.

First, there are thickness adjustments on each side. It comes shipped in the smallest position, so all of these stories about people stuggling to close the rail just make me laugh. Just open it all the way up, lock the "elbow" in place, and then squeeze it until the indicator shows "locked." Done.

As for unlocking, all I can say is that you didn't lock it in the first place. If I have one complaint, it's that it's too hard to unlock when properly locked. My wife can't even do it.

Bottom line: while there might be better bed rails out there, this rail does work and does fit thick mattresses.

We love this product!!! I ordered it despite the bad reviews and it has worked out great for us. I assembled it in 5 minutes and when installed correctly it is VERY sturdy. This is such an improvement from the bed rail we had with our 7 year old. If the rail is collapsing or unsturdy then you are doing something wrong but I thought the directions were very simple. This product is ideal for large matresses such as pillowtops.

We never had any problem, whatsoever! I think it is very sturdy. There is no way this rail is coming off of my daughters bed. It is so sturdy sometimes I sleep with her and I am against the rail. It has never fallen off. Maybe, just maybe, others are not pushing down as far as it should go. In the beginning I wasn't sure exactly how to do it. But now I put all of my weight to secure it into the bed. It takes a while to get used to putting it on and taking it off when you want to change sheets. I defintely think it is worth a try. We like it so much, we are buying another one!
