Good starter rubber ducky for baby's bathtime,
By
This review is from: Safety 1st Temp Guard, Duck (Baby Product)
As others have mentioned, the word "hot" shows up at relatively cool temperatures on this duck--somewhere around 99 degrees(F)for mine. (How do I know? Because my baby bathtub came with a built in thermometer.) That's for a good reason. If you're a new parent you're probably not very good at judging the right water temperature for your baby (I wasn't) because their skin is much thinner and more sensitive than yours. Babies need a much cooler bath than you do. It's better to err on the side of too cool than too hot.
This duck disciplines you into keeping the bath feeling only lukewarm (not hot) until you get used to how baby's water temperature should feel. Once you've got the hang of it you've still got a cute ducky for baby to play with in the bath. Not a bad deal for less than the price of your morning latte.

The only rubber duck that water cannot get into.,
This review is from: Safety 1st Temp Guard, Duck (Baby Product)
This duck floats well. Cute. Decent size for little hands to hold. It doesn't have a hole at the bottom because it is replaced with a blue temperature sensor where the word HOT turns white if the water is hot. Water will not get into the duck, so there is no worry about water getting in and forming residue/mold. Downside is, the duck doesn't quack. Also the temperature sensor always show HOT even if the water is tepid. Well it's alright for me because I didn't care for the sensor, I just wanted a cute duck.

Duckies are a classic bath toy for a reason, and my kid loves this one! The temp sensor on the bottom is too sensitive to heat, though -- it reads "HOT" if the water's even a tiny bit above lukewarm. I don't even bother to use that feature anymore!

Well, it is a baby bath ducky, not much to say other than I like that it does not hold water and get all moldy inside. the temp gauge works well too, but not any better than your hand to test the water before dunking your child in it. a cute well priced little bath toy.

I brought this thinking we will need this to figure out if the water is too hot or warm. It will show hot or warm words. But, it ended up with more like a toy for my baby. When he start teething we take it away from him since we are afraid it is not safe enough for his strong teeth.

I bought this for my baby's bath temperature but I haven't used it as a temperature but as a bath toy, and my baby girl loves it!

Regarding the usefulness of the temperature gauge 'HOT' under belly; it can be good for the first few bath times, until they get a sense of what the water temp should feel like (with your elbow, etc). After that, it becomes a rather enjoyable, floating toy, for the little one... and for those adults who wish to re-acquaint themselves with their bath-time rubber duck!

To use this product, you place the underside of the duck in water for a few seconds and then remove it to see if the word "HOT" appears in bold pink letters on the bottom. If it does, you can adjust the water temperature and try again. It is a very simple tool to use. It does not tell you if the water is too cold for a baby, so you might be better off to start warmer and then adjust down to lower temperatures. I personally don't think it is necessary to buy the more expensive bath thermometers because this does the job just fine. It is also fun to use as a floating bath toy!

It does what it says: the word "HOT" appears when the temperature is too high for baby.
I only wish that it gave some indication also when the temperature should be a little higher. Overall a solid product though. |
