Accommodates Your Growing Baby

Featuring a customizable insert and low harness slots, the onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat fits small infants weighing as little as 4 pounds and is adjustable for growing babies. Because it offers extra legroom, the onBoard35 Air keeps your little one comfortable in a rear-facing position all the way until he or she reaches 35 pounds or 32 inches.

Air Protect Provides Two Layers of Side-Impact Protection

One in four crashes involving children are side-impact, the most dangerous type of collisions for children. The onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat addresses this concern by integrating Air Protect technology, which helps to decrease the chances of crash-related injury for your precious cargo.

Safety 1st engineers designed Air Protect using testing methods that simulate the most violent types of side-impact crashes--those with vehicle intrusion. Using this methodology, Air Protect system was engineered to defend your child in two vital ways. In the event of a collision, the system immediately shields your child's head from impact. As its second layer of defense, Air Protect allows air to escape from the headrest, channeling crash energy away from your child and extending the amount of time it takes to slow your child's movement.

Easy to Install and Carry

The onBoard35 Air Infant Car Seat features an adjustable stay-in-car base that keeps the seat secure, and has an easy-to-read level indicator to help with proper installation. An integrated belt lock on the car seat base also simplifies installation by easily securing your vehicle seat belt, while the one-click LATCH system allows for fast installation when moving between compatible vehicles.

For further convenience, an ergonomic Carry Curve handle on the infant seat makes for comfortable transport to and from the car.

The onboard 35 Air Infant Car Seat is backed by a manufacturer's limited one-year warranty against defective materials or workmanship.

This seems to be a very sturdy and safe car seat.

When our son was born premature, a nurse recommended that we get a car seat where the minimum weight started at 4 pounds as a better fit for our preemie.

I would definitely recommend this car seat to anyone who has an infant.

I have two of these car seats and two babies that are super happy to fill them :)
One of my twins was born at a tiny 5 lbs and went down to 4.5 before gaining weight, she fit into the car-seat very well!
The detachable head support was very reassuring that their little heads did not twist or "flop" over when the vehicle turned. When they out grow the bean shaped support pillows, they come right out and your baby's head is still supported by the secondary support pillow. Eventually (around 5 months for my babies) you take out the secondary support. The "air" cushions seem to assist in comfort from that stage :)
I have not noticed any pinching or issues at all with the harness between my babies legs...

The base is SUPER easy to install! Especially if you are using the anchor system! There are pictures on the base and really you just would have to try to get that wrong..

The material is very durable so far (7 months) no rips, or unwinding. That brings me to one of the only 3 improvements that I could think of.

1) The material is durable, however, under babies legs/feet you start to notice balling of the fabric. Like when fabrics rub together. I removed it with a little lint trimmer.

2) The instruction manual states to wash the seat using a damp cloth and that it is not machine washable. Well I washed it.... it came out fine, I washed them on a gentle setting then tumble dry no heat, and they came out as good as new :) Thankfully! Being able to wash the cloth was a big deal for me. Babies are kinda messy!

3) The only other thing that I could even think of to improve would be the handle.

I did a LOT of research before deciding on this car seat. It seems like a great one, and I ordered it with excitement and anticipation.

I got the seat in and was looking it over, and it seems really solidly built, and is a good looking seat. HOWEVER, I turned it over to take a quick look at the back and immediately noticed that THE SEAT WAS MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2010!!!. The carseat, new in box, was shipped to me in late October 2012, was TWO AND A HALF YEARS OLD!.

I called Amazon, as it is illegal to use these carseats after 5 years from the date of manufacture, and they agreed. Shipped me a replacement, at no cost, even expedited it.

Unbelievably, the replacement was also MANUFACTURED IN MAY 2010. I called again, and they could only offer me a refund and told me to go somewhere else to get the seat.

I am very dissapointed in Amazon on this. I have done a lot of business with them, never with a problem. However, this is a HUGE problem. Its not just the inconvenience factor to me, but what really bothers me is that many folks may not look at the date on the bottom of the seat. I just do not see how a company can sell something with 50% of its useful life gone for full price.

Please, if you order this seat, take a look at the date of manufacture! Within a year, I can understand, but any longer than that shouldnt be tolerated.

As for me, now I am back to square one, with a baby due any day now, 2 weeks wasted, and no car seat.

I love this carseat. it's lightweight, has stellar safety ratings, has the right amount of adjustable settings, and what sets it apart from the rest is that it's all this AND holds babies up to 35 lbs! we started with the chicco fit 22 travel system. nothing was wrong with that except that it only holds babies up to 22 lbs. Once my son closed in on 22 lbs (he's 11 months old now), i purchased an evenflow with adjustable recline, and my son's neck still flopped forward when he fell asleep in it (neck rolls did not work). i researched a great deal after purchasing the non-working evenflow. i then decided to purchase the safety 1st onboard 35 air (in the 'great lakes' color- love it!). this seat is wonderful and suits all of our needs. i'm thrilled that i will be able to keep him reclined for many more months so that he is comfortable and happy again. this seat works rear facing (what we're using now) and forward facing. i highly recommend this seat after trying numerous seats. ideal value for the money too.

When our son was born premature, a nurse recommended that we get a car seat where the minimum weight started at 4 pounds as a better fit for our preemie. A relative recommended this car seat to us, and we were thrilled when we read that this car seat is made for 4 to 35 lbs! Our son is turning one in 4 days and we are still using this car seat!

The car seat is high quality and the colors are vibrant. It has a weight gauge on the side that shows if you have it installed correctly for the baby's weight. It is everything that we could have asked for in a car seat!

So, considering that we have been able to use it for a year, the price paid was well worth it! We got our money's worth and felt that our child was well protected because the minimum weight started at 4 pounds.

CONS: 1.latch system on this is less tight than on the other carseat I had (Babytrend has an excellent very tight latch connection, its just that the actual seats are less padded and the eps foam broke on mine.) It flips up where infants head is. I verified this was the tightest possible per this model by a car seat inspector. This does not look safe at all.
2. I have owned for 15 months now, and my baby has torn off the infant shade completely. That thing is a peice of crap.
3. It does get pretty hot as expected if you choose any color with black.
4. Installation is with ONE strap, not two (Meaning there should be one on each side) so it is harder to get it tight, which is part of #1 Con
5. Straps get twisted in the back, which makes it very hard to tighten. I found out the trick is to pull super hard on the thigh strap (not shoulder strap) to make it even again.

PROS: Although when I got this I thought my baby hated it, she does sleep for awhile in it, and I inspected every seat at BBRUS and this was
1. the best padded one with eps foam all the way town. Parents lift up the cover and look underneath. It is horrible to see that there is PLASTIC not eps foam on large portions of your babies spine!!
2. comfy for baby and she can grow in it. she is almost 30lbs and the shoulder straps are getting tight now at 15months.
3. fairly easy to clean.
4. Got good reviews and safety ratings.

Would I buy another one? No. I would go with the chicco keyfit next time or a britax. I would pay a little more to have the peace of mind of a tight carseat. And also the convertible ones that claim they can be used as infant seats- DONT get those. The safety ratings of an infant in there suck. You can research it. Hope this helps.
