this seat is amazing, yes it can be a chore to clean and it is large in comparison to other seats but its size only makes more comfort for child. my son is 16 months old and last week we were in a major auto accident totaled our car and an electric pole went into our car next to my sons car seat. He was okay only a small bruise from the impact pushing the seat belt into his skin. The Emts could not get over how great the seat protected him we hit the pole going 70 mph and i was told he should of been hurt pretty badly but his car seat saved him. One of the Emts even said he was going to buy the same seat for his child after seeing it save my sons life. I am very lucky in my opinion i had this seat and seems to me the emts thought so too

This is the 1st review I have ever felt compelled to leave. I purchased this car seat a little less than a year ago and have been very pleased with it and then a few days ago I was struck head on by a drunk driver traveling at about 50 mph and my 3yr old son walked away from the crash completely unharmed. I can not tell you how thankful I am that he was uninjured and that his car seat performed exactly as it should have if I could give this car seat 10 stars I would I have already ordered another one to replace the one that was involved in the accident.

This car seat is a fantastic product at an amazing price (at the time we purchased it in 11/2012 it was $110). While researching a car seat for our first child, my husband and I were excited about the prospect of the Alpha Omega Elite's three-way conversion but were dismayed when we could not figure out how to install it rear-facing without being excessively wobbly, no matter what we tried.

So after 5+ hours of researching online, reading manuals and watching online instructional videos on YouTube (such as the one for the Safety 1st Complete Air, which is **NOT** the same model but still offers a visual for parents like us who have never installed a car seat before), my husband set out towards our car with determination in his eyes!

Before we begin, here's some facts about our installation of an Alpha Omega Elite in "Lamont":
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

* Our car is a 2004 Chevrolet Caviler (4-door)

* We used the LATCH system. Our car does not offer the LATCH system in the middle backseat, so we had to put it behind the passenger's seat. My husband also attempted the seatbelt installation in the middle, but he could not tighten it properly because the belt was quite stubborn and kept twisting after being thread through the carseat.

* Upon first attempt it was installed behind the driver's seat, but due to our car's size that required the driver's seat to be pushed up all the way. This made it extremely difficult to move between the pedals, and we felt like that posed a hazard we weren't willing to take (especially when driving around our little one)!

The seat looks great and the fit and finish are good too. I bought this so I don't need to keep buying different types of car seats at different stages. I have not tested it in forward facing mode. In rear facing mode, the seat's inclination is not enough for the kid to be able to sleep (It's too much upright). I placed a couple of towels below the seat and it has done a little to alleviate the problem. My kid's head just keeps falling to the front when he's sleeping because of insufficient recline. I have made sure that the seat is reclined all the way (3 stages of recline) but it is a real problem. Avoid this seat for rear facing kids.

My baby loves this seat!! He cries when I take him out of it, he use to cry when we put him in his old seat!
I love that the straps are very easy to adjust and you don't have to play around with them at the back of the seat to adjust them. It is very easy to take apart for cleaning, just read the instruction manual. That was the first thing I did as recommended by another review on this seat I read prior to purchase. So easy to install, my 16 year old son installed it in his truck when needed. :-)
It is a very tight squeeze rear facing in my Subaru Forester, so it's a good thing I am not very tall. But it does work in smaller cars like mine, read other reviews, I have found helpful tricks to making it work in smaller cars than mine. Also if you have something like a Ford F-250 Crew Cab, and have the seat rear facing a rolled up towel, swimming noodle (or in a pinch a folded up tarp) is helpful to make the seat level.
**Update** We love this seat so much we just bought a second one for our daughter!

This is the perfect seat if you are looking for one that will grow with your child. I bought it because my son out grew his infant one at 6 months. We had an older model combi shuttle that only went up to 29 inches and my son is very tall for his age. We have been using it for over 3 months now and I absolutely love it! I was reading some reviews and noticed a lot of people saying they were having problems with it being reclined in the rear facing position. I put a few rolled up receiving blankets under it and this worked great. The seat is in the proper reclined position and we have plenty of room up front. As for installation; I did have problems when I first tried using the latch system. I couldn't get it tight enough to where it wouldn't wiggle from side to side. So I ditched the latch system and now use our seat belts. It is so easy to install and I have used in both of our cars (a 2009 Nissan Rogue and a 1992 BMW) as well as in a friends Nissan Pathfinder. Each time I installed it rear facing on a side seat using the shoulder strap seat belts. [The instruction manual shows you how to do it properly.]

The seat is so comfortable for our son that not too long after driving he is asleep. It doesn't matter how long of a trip either. Be it ten minutes or 3 hours he stays asleep, something he would not do in his infant seat.

My favorite thing about it is the weight limit for it rear facing though. We are currently living in Germany and they have stricter laws concerning car safety. For example children are required to use some kind of booster seat until they are 12. Also infants have to be rear facing until they are 2. This was the only seat I could find that went up to 40 lbs rear AND 100 lbs forward facing.
