The Safety Factor,
By Maria Savva (London) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Safety Factor 3 (Beyond Perfection) (Kindle Edition)
The final book in the series, The Safety Factor Book III (Beyond Perfection) takes the reader to a future world where talking monkeys serve humans, and genetically engineered gorillas are being produced to do the work that the monkeys cannot do. We join the characters from Book II, who have escaped to this new world. This book reads much more like a science-fiction book than any of the others in the series. It contains a great deal of philosophical dicussion, and scientific detail which will appeal to readers of science-fiction. It is an interesting tale, speculating on what the world will be like in the future in the aftermath of global warming and destruction by war. It is an exploration into whether it would ever be possible to build a civilisation that will last, given that human behaviour never changes. It is a book about betrayal, trust and hope, and also about love. The writers have used the future world as a setting, to put across their view of the world and the reason our society is so unstable. There is a twist at the end, in the epilogue. It appears to have been left open for a future book to be added to this complex and entertaining series.
