Very good, not quite as good as the other books in the series, March 3, 2006
This review is from: Safety Plays & Endplays (Card Play Made Easy) (v. 1) (Paperback)
The four volume set Card Play Made Easy offers clear and concise coverage of fundamental declarer play. The subject matter in this book was simpler than in the others. If you are below Intermedaite Play you may find it more valuable than I did, though I still thought it good.
What I like about this series is the instruction is clear and short, with a number of double dummy examples. Then the reader is presented with a number of problems, with answers on the next page. The problems are well selected, and while not very hard, they also explain corrcet play in all aspects. So before resorting to a finesse, try cashing some other suit, in case a miracle occurs (QJ drop doubleton when opponents hold 5 cards)
The chapter on Match Point play excellent, clear, concise, and not simplistic. It was unexpected, since this is a book on card play technique, and MP technique is more advanced. MP technique is not simply take a risk and play for the most tricks, it involves analysing your contract and what will happen at other tables.
