5.0 out of 5 stars Quality Respirator Mask for Dust and Allergens, December 10, 2008
This review is from: 3 M Safety Respirator, Particulate P95 10/BX #8271 (Misc.)
I stumbled onto the 3M 8271 when I was looking for a quality mask for my pollen allergies. Now after a pollen allergy attack I dawn the mask. In about 1/2 to 1 hour after an attack, my breathing is back to normal. No more runny nose, stuff-up sinuses, and the overall miserable feeling. I also have cold-induced asthma. When I work outdoors in the winter the mask keeps me from having an asthma attack and I can leave my inhalator in the house.

The mask has a foam rubber seal all around the inside of the mask, sealing out any "flow by" particles encountered in conventional dust masks. The seal also makes the respirator mask comfortable to wear. The exhale valve in the front of the mask seems to prevent moisture buildup in the mask.

The masks are relatively expensive, but they beat the heck out of using the hundreds of allergy medications I took each allergy season. Also it is excellent for the dust I generate in my woodworking shop. I used the mask today when I sprayed my couch with Scotch Guard and it worked great in keeping me from inhaling the spray mist!!!! Everybody should have a few of these respirator masks around the house and shop.

For me the 3M 8271 Respirator Mask has been a God-Sent.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good and inexpensive respirator for pollen allergies., April 30, 2008

I really like the respirator. It works and it is relatively easy to breath in it. Much better than others. It has very nice design avoiding leakage of the pollen inside.Unortunately any of this kind of respirators doesn't protect eyes from contact with pollen, so I use this respirator only for 5-15 minute walks. For longer walks outside I found an ideal (so far) solution Triton Powered Respirator #PRA001. See my review there.Triton respirator is only 179$ and solves pollen allergy problems completely.

I have allergies and must use a mask to do yard work, etc. This filter has a tight fit and does not let in unfiltered air. The only draw back I have is that in the summer it does get a bit hot, and in the winter my safety glasses fog sometimes.

Long lasting elastic straps and an efficient exhale valve make this comfortable respirator my first pick for a disposable.
