The filters definately worked because after a few jobs they were done. I could see all the junk they saved from my lungs.
I am on here buying replacement filters. I just can't see there being any better alternative for toxic dust and serious protection, with a balance of comfort. It is very lightweight.
The disks are great and easy to replace. This thing pretty much has saved me from breathing in all kinds of bad things, which is a good thing.
I have allergies and I'm sensitive to dust particles and this thing really works b/c when I wear it, I notice that I never sneeze. Heck when my allergies are really bad I'll wear this around the house :-) I've used this mask to tear up 30 year old flooring, sanding paint, tearing down a rotted wood shed, etc.
I just wish these things have wear indicators on the disks, so you can tell when you're near its limit.
But as others have noted, they tend to get smells with this respirator that they don't get with some others. And to be clear, this isn't an organics respirator, it offers no protection from solvents. But I work with metals and I pick up some metallic smell from grinding and sanding -- and I really shouldn't. But the respirator still offers far more protection than a disposable face mask.
But this last weekend, the outtake valve (the one in the center) stopped working altogether. THIS IS A BIG DEAL! Without a properly functioning outtake valve, this mask offers no protection whatsoever. And the respirator died far before the cartridges.
So if you buy this, be careful, and be sure to check the center valve each use. (If you cover both cartridges with your hands, no air should come though on an inhale). But I'm thinking that the valves on this particular respirator aren't well-built -- they have to close quickly and reliably to be effective -- hence the metal smell and the short lifetime. I'm trying a different brand now.

Sometimes it sticks when trying to exhale. This causes my breathe to come out where the mask should seal to my face, causing my goggles to fog up.Published 16 days ago by Amazon Customer
This mask is priced right and does what the seller says it does. It keeps you free of the fumes from painting or bleaching and fits comfortably on your face. Read morePublished 17 days ago by RJM402
