THE best assortment of "Weird Al" hits, March 2, 2003
This review is from: Saga Begins (Audio CD)
On this awesome import CD, you'll find probably the greatest collaboration of "Weird Al" Yankovic's many parodies. It takes songs from his newest CD Running With Scissors as well as songs from Bad Hair Day, Off The Deep End, and Dare To Be Stupid, and puts them into one remarkable CD. It looks like this item is hard to find; but if you can find it, buy it. It's certainly worth it. Here's a short overview of the 18 Al classics:
1. The Saga Begins - first single off Running With Scissors, a parody of Don McLean's classic song "American Pie". It tells the story of 'Star Wars Episode I' and the life of Anakin Skywalker. A truly great song.
2. Eat It - classic "Weird Al" in this awesome parody of Michael Jackson's "Beat It".
3. I Love Rocky Road - here's another old Al song that many people could easily sing along to.
4. Pretty Fly For A Rabbi - another great song off Running With Scissors, uses The Offspring's "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)" and gives it a whole new twist.
5. Smells Like Nirvana - one of my favorite "Weird Al" songs, a take-off of Nirvana's grunge smash "Smells Like Teen Spirit".
6. Cavity Search - here's an overlooked song from Al's CD Bad Hair Day that anyone who's had a cavity can relate to.
7. Jerry Springer - this is one of Al's most edgy songs, a parody of Barenaked Ladies' "One Week".
8. Theme From Rocky XIII - just a classic "Weird Al" Yankovic song.
9. Gump - this parody of The Presidents of the United States of America's hit "Lump" tells the funny story from the Tom Hanks movie 'Forest Gump'.
10. Bedrock Anthem - uses Red Hot Chili Peppers' songs "Under The Bridge" and "Give It Away" to produce a hilarious song about those infamous Flinstone characters.
11. Phony Calls - story of the life of a prank caller, uses TLC's "Waterfalls" as its basis.
12. Like A Surgeon - more classic "Weird Al". We all know this one.
13. Grapefruit Diet - here's yet another song from Running With Scissors, as it uses Cherry Poppin' Daddies' "Zoot Suit Riot" to take us through the mind of a fat man on a diet.
14. Fat - again Al uses Michael Jackson as means for a great parody song, as he uses "Bad" to make probably his most popular song.
15. Living With A Hernia - classic Al; nothing more, nothing less.
16. Amish Paradise - first single off Bad Hair Day, a parody of Coolio's "Gangsters Paradise".
17. It's All About The Pentiums - This is my all-time favorite "Weird Al" song. It's a parody of Puff Daddy's hit "It's All About The Benjamins" that shows us Al is up on the new trends in computers. Hilarious!
18. Polka Power! - A "Weird Al" Yankovic CD would not be complete without his trademark song mixing 20 pop hits and polka music.
