I am one of those that grew up in Puerto Rico listening to Saga in Alfa Rock 106 and the multiple concerts they performed. Vocals, guitar, and synthesizer work is awesome. Favorites are How Long, Humble Stance, and Perfectionist. I love the intro of "How Long"--very memorable & unmatched (in the prog rock genre).

Not a bad tune on it!,

I originally had the album version of this cd way back in the late 70's and loved it. Well I finally broke down and picked up this updated version of the original and I'm glad I did.
One spin of this classic brought back so many great memories of my youth it was awesome. The sound is just how I remember it, no extra bass or any other add ons, just classic sounding Saga. The sound quality is very good indeed. Love the band always have, but this first release is special. Check it out!!

Some of the songs on here come off better live than here like humble stance..kinda of reggae like..really excellent song and how long..straight foward rock song..really excellent. Other excellent songs on here Tired World, The perfectionist, ice nice. The other songs are very good too. Doesn't quite have have the production of silent knight, but some of this material comes off even better here live( not that it's bad here..just really good live versions) but overall can compete with it.

Essential and Underrated -This record RULES!!!,

Saga's 1st lp is essential for anyone that loves 70's 'sophisticated' rock i.e. Rush, Queen, Jethro Tull, B.O.C. etc. Labeling them progressive sort of does no justice to them. They are very musical, however, the prog. label conjurs up images of 25 min. guitar/keyboard solos which can be over-indulgent most of the time-SAGA is way more tasteful than that. Every song here is great "Will it be You?" has a gorgeous chorus, "How long" and "Ice Nice" are amazing. Cool screensaver too!! Their next 2 records are even better!! Get it!

I've also lived in Puerto Rico during that time, listening to SAGA on Alfa Rock 106. I remember buying this album when it first came out; to date, I still have the first three albums in excellent condition. The whole album is excellent.
The solo in the song "Humble Stance" between keyboard player and guitarist and then syncronizing at end of the solo is jaw-dropping. Let's not forget the song "Tired World" with another incredible guitar solo. If you like Yes, Kansas or anything Prog, this band and this album should be in your music library.

INCREDIBLE MUSIC FOR ITS TIME AND STILL...,

WHO EVER LIKES PROGRESSIVE ROCK AND HASNT HEARD THIS BAND BEFORE, CANNOT UNDERSTAND THE TERM PROGRESSIVE YET. AT THE TIME OF ITS RELEASE AND STILL TODAY THIS ALBUM IS A JEWEL ANY PROGRESSIVE ROCK FAN MUST HAVE. ONCE YOU HEAR THIS ALBUM , YOUR MIND WILL CHANGE AND START FROM A NEW BEGINNING TO UNDERSTAND THIS KIND OF MUSIC. PINK FLOYD IS GOOD, BUT DOESNT HAVE THE RYTHYM IN THE MUSIC THAT SAGA HAS. THIS ALBUM WAS A GREAT BEGINNING TO AN INCREDIBLE ROCK BAND. ALBUM 2 "IMAGES AT TWILIGHT" AND ALBUM 3 ARE ALSO INCREDIBLE. DONT MISS ANY OR YOU WILL BE SORRY.

I first discovered Saga in a club while I was stationed in Germany. I loved the music then and even more now. This really gives a person a glimpse of the beginning of a great band.

I first heard Saga in the early 1980's and immediately took a liking to them. The composition and lyrics are thoughtful and inventive. Being a musician myself, I have always enjoyed originality in music. All the great groups have a unique sound, style, rhythm, and intelligence that seems to be lacking in much of today's music. I turn on the radio and often, cannot distinguish one group from another. Not so with Saga. One listen and this group clearly stands out.
If you like Kansas, Rush, Yes, and others of that calibre, you'll love Saga.

Exellent first Album.,

When this album came out they were playing the bar scene in southern Ontario.I was blown away by the music! the bass player and the original keyboard player were previously in a band called flood. the guitarist in this band has gotten better over the years but his playing on this album is incredable! One of the best guitarists to come out of canada. No Lenny Breau but better than alex liefson( a great guitarist in his own rite) If you never heard these lads then check them out. You'll be glad you did!
