Enjoyed the story, May 4, 2007
I would read Saihoshi 1 and 2 again. The story was good, lots of humor, enjoyable characters...and a nympho prince who just can't get enough of his "torture". My one and only complaint, as with all Kosen stories, It is too darn short!!! Please Kosen, give us a good long story to read.
As usual the Kosen art is beautiful, and I loved the chibi follow up story that brought us up to date on the characters.
The fox boy story was okay, but not what I bought this book for.
Sex, hidden naughty parts

Great stories by Kosen and Yishan Li. A must-have if you like "pet" / cat-ears yaoi :), May 26, 2009
I really liked this book, both Kosen and Yishan Li / Misa Izanaki story. All those who followed Saihoshi won't be disappointed: it's a great finale to a beautiful story. Kosen's story is well covered in other reviews, so I'm not going to discuss it.
I've actually already owned Saihoshi - Omnibus (both vol. 1 and 2 in one book), so I purchased this book purely for Yishan Li's story (which takes about half of the book). I'm a big fan of her art, and love the fact that she always works on fantasy stories with engaging plot (check out her "Spirit Marked" and "The Aluria Chronicles" - they're great as well!). It's relatively rare and hard to find a good Western / non-Japanese yaoi manga-ka, and she's definitely one of them.
The story ("Reluctant Savior") is about a slave fox-boy/man (Yuri) and a mercenary who first stole him for another master, but then - after Yuri (very uke / pet-like and sweet) fell in love with him - decided to "keep" him. They have to flee to the province where fox-people are legally free, and find shelter with another fox-man, an inn-keeper (a stern and independent fox-man / yet unexpected uke). There are a few more interesting twists in the story, but no more spoilers.
The plot is somewhat predictable, I must admit, but it's quite sweet and romantic. All those who like yaoi with "pets" / cat ears (and tail) will surely like it.
P.S: One of the reviewers posted one of the most misleading and inappropriate reviews I've seen on Amazon - for this book. She claims that Yuri looks like a "12-year-old", which is a very gross overstatement, to say the least. Yaoi Press states that all their yaoi characters are 18 years or older, and based on this book, I believe it: though Yuri looks young (he's also of quite a slender build), he can definitely be 18 or even older. (Note that this artist draws all her characters looking relatively young: the seme / mercenary - or anyone else in this story - looks young as well, some of them are just slightly taller than Yuri. Well, not everyone can have the same artistic style as Naono Bohra (who tends to draw middle-age ukes)...) So, rest assured, this is very much NOT "shota".
(Also, the same reviewer mentioned some "rapes" going on in this story. Well, as hard as I looked, there is none. There is one rape attempt , very unsuccessful (the uke even didn't lose his clothes)).
I highly recommend this book to all fantasy yaoi (M/M) fans, especially if you're OK with /can appreciate some good Western / global yaoi.

What a ride., January 4, 2007
To say I'm a fan of Kosen would be an understatement. This isn't because of the genre or because of popularity, but because the art style of both ladies and storyline are memorable. In the case of this book, I appreciated that in the beginning it starts out clearing up a misunderstanding between the two guardians from the last volume. (no need prolonging it when there is a simple answer) The ending was excellent, with a mixture of angst and comedy in one heavy dosage. I read this story over and over and I never get tired of it.
