Based on historic records, this Choose Your Own Adventure (CYOA) book puts you squarely on board with a band of ruthless, swashbuckling, keel-haulin' pirates in the Carribbean. Written in the second person voice, you really feel immersed in the adventure, and of course there are plenty of opportunities to guide the course of the story by choosing what to do. This series beats the mainstream CYOA books in that you have to make "educated" choices. You receive some historic background before embarking on your mission and you can use that information to guide you to good choices. This makes for an even more immersive (and subversively educational!) experience.
If you've stumbled across this book (and especially if you have an intrest in pirates), I can't encourage you enough to pick up a copy of this book. It was my personal favorite in the Time Machine series, which set the bar very high for CYOA books. Enjoy! P.S. I sure wish they'd republish this series! |
