The title "Sail with Me", the kissing cover, and the synopsis leads one to assume that it is more contemporary romance than anything else; but there is more to this book than kissing on a beach, sailing, kicking out an ex husband and finding new love. There is a well-developed mystery hidden under this fluff- a grieving mother is convinced that her child did not die in the hospital after giving birth but rather was stolen. With no leads the case lays dormant. Delaney, a cop on the local police force, lands this stale case as a form of punishment- The chief makes no attempt to hide his feelings that she is not welcome on the police force. In order to jump-start the investigation she contacts the FBI investigator Jake listed in the file...

This book had a great blend of mystery and romance. Rather than packing the book with action, the author uses quality police detection and fact finding to move the mystery along. I found that Ms. Heights writing was strong enough to do this without making the book dry and uneventful. The romance was nicely handled, with plenty of heat, but never did it overshadow the mystery aspect of the plot. This book had a really nice balance. For me it did take a chapter or two to get into the book so I did drop it a star for the slow beginning- The author used that first couple of chapters as background information on Delaney and the town she lived in. I would have preferred to receive it in installments throughout the book. I also would have preferred more dialogue.

If you like mysteries and romance this is a good book.

5.0 out of 5 stars A Wickedly Seductive Mystery! April 25, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This engaging story sweeps you up and carries you away on an alluring and fast-paced mysterious adventure that you will continue to think about long after you've read it. It's the ideal fusion of a spirited love story and an intriguing mystery. Chelsea Heights is a talented author and has crafted a genuinely compelling story in "Sail With Me."

When Delaney, the lovely detective, teams up with the Jake, ex-Marine and ever-so-sexy FBI agent, to solve the mysterious disappearance of a baby, passions are ignited all around. Just when you think you have things figured out, the author has several clever and unexpected surprises in store for you. This wonderfully mysterious and sensuous love story is anything but predictable.

"Sail With Me" is one of those rare books that I was able to read completely in one sitting. Heights' mastery with words packs quite a story into the 111 pages. This is an immensely enjoyable and pleasing read.

5.0 out of 5 stars "A Thoroughly Enjoyable Story" July 28, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
A local women mourns the loss of her baby and haunts the local cemetery. A smart female police detective, Delaney Davenport, is disturbed by the deep sorrow of this woman. She decides to review the case which states the baby had died at the hospital after birth. However, the body was not sent to a funeral home, and it was believed to have been accidentally placed in a medical waste bag. Delaney isn't convinced the child is dead. She reopens the investigation with the help of FBI agent Jake Thrasher. They discover evidence that was never looked into by the local police. While they continue their intense search and interviews of people involved at the hospital during the baby's birth, Delaney and Jake grow very close to each other. Soon, it is apparent that someone wants to end the investigation. But who is it? Why is Delaney being singled out? This is a great story, I enjoyed it tremendously. There is not one dull moment and the story grips you right through to the end. I'm looking forward to other works from this great storyteller.

4.0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly good February 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Surprisingly good. I would have liked a bit more dialogue between the main characters instead of description of what was said but in this book it works. I'm not into books that are very descriptive and doesn't have a lot of dialogue but Chelsea Heights writes in such a way that it's not boring and it works for the story.

I would have like to have seen more interaction between the main characters so their love would have been more chemistry. It would have been nice if they had gotten to know each other and spoken about their past. That's my only thing with this story.

It's an easy read and very captivating. I would've like to have seen the reunion at the of a few character. The love scenes are very steamy. Written in a way that the story flows and keeps you reading. I highly recommend it.

Detective Delaney Davenport is a good and experienced cop. She wants to move up in the department but the 'good ole boys' club finds any reason they can to keep her right where she is. Delaney's private life wasn't going any better. Her ex husband cheated on her for years and it seemed Delaney was the last to know. Then a year after their divorce, her ex, Kevin died. His death was embarrassing and very public. After that she stayed pretty much to herself.
The Chief loved giving Delaney the minor, petty cases. He never let her work anything that needed real work. Until she started looking at one particular file, Caroline O'Sullivan. Being a small town, everyone knew everyone else. Delaney knew Caroline and she didn't seem crazy like neighbors and towns people had been saying for years. A close look at her files reveal more going on that anyone expected. Certainly more than Delaney thought she'd find. It might even require assistance from outside sources. Delaney begins what could be the biggest case of her career.

AMAZING is the best word to describe this book. Just 111 pages long, but it moves quickly, is well written and the characters can be found in any town. The story is an old but good one. Chelsea Heights did a very good job of capturing small town America in this book. I enjoyed this and recommend it, especially to those who want a quick summer read.

I did have an issue with the way the ending came about. We were in the middle of the action and suddenly it was over the book was finished. I felt the ending was too soon.

I gave this one 4 out of 5 books because the ending came up like an unexpected curve in the road.
