In hindsight, people have done things that shadow what Slocum accomplished, but none have written an account of it that has become as popular as this book. I have a minimal knowledge of sailing and I still enjoyed the book. The B&N notes are helpful, but I had the ebook version so it is a pain to look anything up. The writing is very clear, even for someone who made their career as a sailor.
