A Visual History of New England Sailing Ships,
By
This review is from: Sailing Ships of New England: 1607-1907 (Paperback)
This book is a collection of paintings/lithographs of various New England sailing vessels. Each image contains the ship's name, weight and when/where it was built. In many instances the ship's captain and/or owner is identified as well as the painter of the image. Historically significant voyages as well as the ultimate fate of certain ships are also provided. The book has sections on old nautical instruments, together with a brief overview of the New England sailing industry and descriptions of certain ship types. There is also a complete listing of the various artists whose work is contained in the book.
