5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Manga
This book was so awesome, I loved it! The artwork was of course, gorgeous, especially at the beginning when Sailor Moon is fighting Metalia. And then Chibi-usa appears! This book is really funny too. I love Mercury's new attack, Shine Snow Illusion! Sadly, it's not very effective. I'm really glad Mixx stuck with the Japanese names for the attacks, like...

1.0 out of 5 stars just learn the language
i actually sat down with my friend and translated most of volume four from japanese (my copy) to english (her copy). it was amazing to see how many mistranslations there were. in addition to flopping between name spellings (they do this a lot in other volumes and other series), the print is way too dark, names were changed, some of the sound effects were missed, and in my...

5.0 out of 5 stars Fantastic Manga, November 20, 1999

This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
I'm really glad Mixx stuck with the Japanese names for the attacks, like "Sparkling Wide Pressure" instead of something dumb like "Jupiter Thunder-Clap Zap." And I love the introduction of the two minor characters, Kotono and Asanuma. This is great! I love it! So far I have Sailor Moon 1-4 and Sailor Moon Super S 1-2, and I'm still collecting! Buy this book! Right now! Quit reading this and go buy it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautiful Art Wonderful Story, December 12, 1999
By
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
Most people only know about Sailor Moon thanks to DIC. In these NA versions of the popular manga we follow the adventures of Bunny and her friends as they defend the Earth from the scum of the universe. If you're one of those individuals who aboslutly love Sailor Moon then this book is for you. Continuing the story in what is known as the R season in the anime this story cuts right to the Black Moon family saga. Here we are introduced to Rini Sailor Moon daughter from the future who passes herself off as Bunny's cusin in order to ger the Silver Crystal. For those who are familiar with the anime this story skips the Doom Tree series. With its beautiful pictures and well written story this book (even with the NA names) is well worth it. It's well worth the wait for each volume. These books are not only great reads but great works of art as well.

4.0 out of 5 stars a great book by Naoko as alwais, August 25, 2002

(REAL NAME)
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
After Sailor Moon defeats Metalia she finally reunites with her long lost prince in a lovely and very touching moment(my favorite part in the book) This book also reveals 2 of Darian's powers. Then the second round of enemies arrive with the very hilarious arival of Rini. Personaly i've alwais had a problem with Rey and Rini in the anime but in the manga they r so much better. Rini is so very adorable and loveable, a little braty but what kid isn't? And u can see that she is made to be the next generation of SailorMoon after winning the highest score playing the Sailor V game. And Rey is so cool(she even has a cell phone,tee-hee), mature, wise, and she so very rarely pick's on Bunny. I'm not going to tell anymore than what other's have, that Sailor Mars, Mercury and Jupiter get captured and taken prisoners by Crimson Rubeus while they try to defeat Catzy, Bertie, & Prizma. Speaking of gems, Rini has the silver crystal of the future in neclace form just like Bunny, not inside her like in the anime, which i think is logical. Anyway buy this book for backround info on Darian, Rey, Amy, Lita, the funy arival of Rini and of course the first part of the Black Moon that leaves u wanting to know how will Sailor Moon help the Sailors.

5.0 out of 5 stars Comparing to the Japanese edition..., March 8, 2003

"fantasystar" (ISTANBUL Turkey) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
Everyone is comparing the english version of this manga with the japanese version. however; i bet most of the customers who decided to buy this book don't know any janasene at all, like me. so, instead of considering us "unlucky to have these bad translations", i think we are lucky cuz these manga books, especially the fourth one, are still enjoyable. the print is a little bit too dark, but still they are the best manga books i owned.
i guess the japanese version is better, because it is the original one, but to all those who don't know japanese and still love sailor moon: buy this book and enjoy it instead of pittying that you don't know japanese!

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely beautiful., June 8, 2000

I recommend any of the manga to anyone who is a Sailor Moon fan. Even if you aren't the artwork is absolutely beautiful to admire. I prefer the manga to the anime. This way you get to see the characters as they were meant to be. The drawings are much more flowing (heehee and again even more beautiful). In Book Four you get to see Rini for the first time. And what a little spore she is! But you also get a glimpse at her vulnerable side, after all she's just a little girl without her mama and papa.

By A Customer
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
This is a great book! The acts in this book are: Little Stranger, Sailor Mars, Black Moon Berie, And Black Moon Prizma. In it is the final battle between sailor moon and queen beryl/Metalia. after Rini apears, and so does the dark moon, with catzi, bertie, avery,& prizma. Mercury, Mars and Jupiter are kidnapped by the dark moon. This is a great book, a must read. In answer to the question about book 5 and Makoto smoking, I think it was a candy one, (I'm not sure, i've only read the fan translation of that one) :) ^-^

5.0 out of 5 stars What a beauty., November 12, 2001
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
This was the first manga I have ever bought and it was wonderful. I choose this to be my first because of the romantic scene between Tuxedo Kamen(Mask), and Usagi(Bunny).
The images are just beautiful, Naoko Takeuchi is fantastic!
I liked the plot, although I mainly knew about it because I had seen the TV series, but there were a few differences that I liked. Plus, I did not have to go through the torture of seeing Mamoru(Darian) break up with sweet Usagi(Bunny).
And another thing I liked about this manga, is how beautiful Usagi looks, and how intelligent Mamoru is.
Ofcourse, he does not look to bad himself. ^_-
Get it peoples, you won't regret it!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon is a timeless anime/manga classic!!, December 2, 2010
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
Sailor Moon volume 4 concludes the Dark Kingdom Arc and begins Black Moon Arc with Chibiusa (Rini) literally falling from the sky! It follows the anime in some ways, but creates a complete different story. However, this is THE original work from the author Naoko Takeuchi unlike the crappy anime series that makes things repetetive, stupid at times and campy. With a fresh, original story, fans old and new can look at the original Sailor Moon that released in America 15 years ago!
In my opinion the manga is "darker" than the light-hearted, sugariness that was present throughout the anime. For example, the anime portrayed the 4 Phantom Sisters as somewhat "dense, witty" characters, especially the youngest sister Koan (Catzy). Some parts I like about the anime is that they turn bad characters into good characters (I wish they did that with the Witches 5, cuz they're my favorite set of villans). The manga however, the 4 phantom sisters don't see salvation, for they're "bad to the bone." A scene I found quite disturbing in this book was when Katzy burned a child and made a nun burst into flames through spontaneous combustion. The anime would never do something like this...! The Black Moon Bertie chapter follows the Sailor Moon episode "For friendship! Ami and Berthier clash" episode a bit well, except Bertie doesn't turn good like Katzi, Avery (Calaveres) or Prizma (Petz).
Again, Sailor Moon in my opinion will always be a classic anime that everyone should know and look at it in a different way. Come on people! This isn't a freaking barbie/power ranger show! It's anime!
I hate it that none of these reviews list the chapters the books have, so I'll be specific about the details.
The contents page has a picture of Sailor Mars with the chapter content in some weird "papyrus font:"
Act 1 - Little Stranger
Act 2 - Sailor Mars (I thought this was weird cuz it wasn't called Black Moon: Katzy. Maybe it's another one of Tokyopop's bad translations, or Takeuchi-sama really did just call this chapter "Sailor Mars.")
Act 3 - Black Moon Bertie
Act 4 - Black Moon Prizma
Each act is like around 40 pages long and in the back of the book, has a catalog of different Sailor Moon manga volumes, novels and scout guides available. As an old-timer who still reads and watches this classic anime, hope this helps!

5.0 out of 5 stars Sailor Moon Novel #4, June 24, 2002
By
Raven (Scotts Valley, California) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sailor Moon, Vol. 4 (Paperback)
This is the best out of the first four. I almost cried when Serenity and Endymion were reunited at last! It had a wonderful ending to the Queen Beryl Saga, and lets not forget Rini's side-splitting entrance! This introduces the Black Moon saga right after Naoko finishes the Queen Beryl Saga. This is also a fantastic display of Naoko's talent in art!...
