Fun stories,

This is a surprisingly good book with 12 humorous short stories, published in 1909. The stories all take place along the coast of England, and the characters are sailors and local residents. The stories are about con artists, marital spats, misunderstandings, etc. The author uses deliberate misspellings, mispronunciations and improper grammar to give that lower-class, uneducated feel to the stories. Even today the stories are funny- it's the type of humor that will make you smile and chuckle, not the type that creates uproarious laughter. I like the book a a lot- every story is good, not just a few of them. It's fairly short and doesn't take long to read.

I also thought I was going to learn about knot tying, but pleasantly found out that the knots were in the mixups and goings on of the characters. It's a fun to read book in which we learn about the language and character of lower class Englishmen. The stories are humorous and well written. We see rascals getting just rewards, badgered husbands and wives turning the tables on their others, tricksters getting tricked, and all leave the reader with a nice feeling.
As a free Kindle book you can't go wrong to try it out.

Has nothing to do with knots - but, yes, good stories,

The author has a nice ear for dialect and the stories are fun. Just don't buy the book if you're looking to learn about knotcraft.

I love short stories that keep me laughing. This book is funny until the end. The grammar is hard to follow sometimes but is well worth it. Gotta love misfits.

I thought that this book is about tying sailor's knots. It is not. The stories are amusing and well written, however this book is not about knots and that is what I was looking for.

Since there is no description of the book, I thought it was about knot tying. It is not. The stories are really good, but there should be a description explaining that it is not about knot tying.
