Instructions:

1.Turn off your phone and pull out the battery.

2.Just put the battery back and don't turn it on.

3.Plug the module into the micro USB port on the phone.

4.After about 2 seconds, you can see the yellow download mode logo on the screen.

5.Unplug the module.

6.Connect your phone with USB cable to computer and then flash your phone via the program "odin".

Simple and effective

This item is simple and effective. From a powered down state (remove and then reinsert the battery) you simply insert this jig into the microUSB port and in a couple of seconds it boots into download mode. It's not just something for a bricked phone - it's also a lot more convenient when you are flashing ROMs.

As a bonus, on the Galaxy S II it also resets the "flash counter", which is the number of times a custom firmware has been flashed to the device! Meaning you can reflash a stock ROM and return the phone for service if needed. Note that this is as of the date of this review - be sure to check a source such as the XDA Developer's Forum since there have been rumors that at some point the vendor firmware updates will take this ability away. Your mileage may vary, and it's really your responsibility to check that it will work with your phone's firmware.

That's just all the more reason to get one now and flash custom firmware! Take control of your own device and customize it how you want. Having one of these will just keep you safe against bricking your phone by flashing the ROM incorrectly since it doesn't rely on a "button press" method of getting into download mode.

Yes, you could make your own jig, but factor in the cost of parts, shipping, and time you will spend it's just sensible to buy one that's professionally made. These are downright tiny and well constructed. No, I don't work for them. I always make my purchases at amazon based on reviews I wanted to post feedback.

I can confirm that it works on both of my phones, the Galaxy S II and the Galaxy S (Captivate).

Works perfectly-SGS2 unbrick - recovery for Galaxy S

Received this fast.. Didn't even pay for expedited shipping.
Simply inserted this into my SGS2 (after I powered off), and it turned on the phone, and it reset the ODIN counter, and made my custom ROM recognized as official. Now no more trianlge and have normal boot screen again. It looks like an official ROM. !!!! Yea !!!! --- Whole process takes 10 seconds. HIGHLY recommended. You can also check on you tube to see how to do this and how to unbrick and recover from a bad customROM.

Also the shipment packaging was perfect. Easy to open and no way this would get lost (unlike my ebay purchase from a competitor).

Don't waste your time buying these on EBAY from Hong Kong. After waiting 3 weeks, I received an empty envelope for my purchase, because they ship as cheap as possible.

It worked for me. I have a Samsung SGH-T959. I had made a variety of mistakes when I tried to flash the kernel and install a new ROM. Anyway, it wouldn't even boot. No lights, no sounds.. nothing. I thought it was over but figured it was worth a few bucks to try this device. Woo hoo! Installed a fully charged battery and plugged in the dongle...nothing. Hmmm.. then I hit the power button and saw the most wonderful thing. Download mode. Give it a shot.

The Perfect Jig

I've seen some negative reviews on this Jig because it won't work on their SGS2, and other people have left comments saying it is only for this or that device because that is what the title said. I want to shed some light on a few things. Firstly, if the jig doesn't work, its probably because your device is fully bricked and nothing can be done to bring it back. Secondly, ALL jigs are the same. Whether you buy it from this vendor or that vendor, they are assembled the same. I've made a few home-made jigs and tested them across many different Galaxy devices with confirmation that they all worked. I bought this to prove that this jig is no different: a 300K Ohm resistor across pins 4 and 5. Don't take the title as the only correct source of information as it is only a marketing tool, and do some research on what can or can't be done to fix a device.

Note: Jigs are a used as a hardware hack for Samsung devices only.

saved my bacon

My wife has a international Galaxy S and was stuck on Android 2.1. I read on xda developers site that I could get a stable build of Gingerbread (2.3.4) and eventually Ice Cream Sandwich. So, being the good husband I am, I backed up all her info and proceeded to flash the ROM and install a new bootloader. (I don't really know what I'm talking about, the forums had good guides) Anway, along the way I found that her phone has the problem where you can't get it to boot into download mode. Of course the way I found that was by soft bricking it. Was a bit scary. More searching on the xda dev site and eventually I find that there is a hardware solution to this. Now I could make my own, or I could buy this one from some very nice people on amazon. I bought this one, it came fast and worked great. The only downside was my wife had to use an old flip phone for 2 days, sorry honey.
