A new translation of the earliest Life of St Clare (The Little Flower of St Francis) written shortly after her death, possibly by Thomas of Celano. The translation is prefaced by an intriguing and comprehensive introduction, setting her life in context. A translation of the rule of St Clare and a selection of her letters are also included. The text is very reader-friendly with explanatory notes provided were needed.

About the Author

Christopher Stace was for many years, senior classics master at Bradfield College. Other appointments include: Education Fellow Keble College Oxford and Consultant and translator for BBC series All the World's a Stage. He has published several books including: Florence: City of the Lily (Dent, 1989); a translation of The Golden Legend (Penguin 1998) and a translation of Thomas of Celano's The First Life of St Francis (Triangle, 1999). He reviews for The Daily Telegraph, World of Books, BBC Radio 4 Kaleidoscope and World Service Meridian. He lives in Hastings.
