One of my favourite St. Francis biographies,

Elizabeth Goudge wrote this biography of St. Francis with love and caring but also with attention to historical accuracy. You will not find any of the sentimental language here to which some biographers fall prey. Ms. Goudge kept her feet firmly on the ground when she wrote this book but also obviously had her heart in heaven, as close as possible to this great saint. I have 15 of the most famous biographies of St. Francis in my library and this is probably one of my two favourites.
