This is an excellent addition to the previous volumes of the St. John's Bible that have come out. I can't wait for the last three! As with the other volumes, the calligraphy is a bit hard to read, but it is being true to the art form. Grogeous illuminations. I recommend that the collector also purchase "The Art of the Saint John's Bible" by Susan Sink or a similar volume for a complete explanation of the illuminations.

For a great read aloud Bible in the home, the St. John's Illuminated Bible is a beauty. Visually a masterpiece, with calligraphy text and unparalleled illustrations to assist listeners, this new illuminated Bible is a great addition to the home for anyone interested in bringing back to ancient tradition of reading the Bible aloud with others. Though pricey for each section of the Bible, what a gift to give to another who is thirsting for a drink from the deep well of Scripture. In true Benedictine style and spirituality of excellence, the St. John community has outdone themselves, offering an extraordinary gift to the English speaking world!

These books are spectacular. I am in love with the idea of using medeival techniques to make a book of this size and importance. This one is beautiful. I've never read the prophets before but now I am.

The volumes of the Saint John's Bible are wonderful and deserve a spot in every Christian Library! The quality of the publication does credit to the calligraphy and illuminations. As I am acquiring these volumes (this is my third), I cover them with book covers to add to their beauty and protect them for my children. If you ever have the chance to see an exhibition on the making of these books, don't miss it! A visit to Saint John's is on the list for my next trip to Minnesota.
