This bible is a treasure for the serious student. It gathers in one place much information required for unbiased scripture study. It has proven to be invaluable in my exegetical research, containing a scholastically-accepted scripture translation, as well as extensive notation to aide in understanding of the text. It is augmented with many maps and charts, as well as explanatory essays that aid in viewing the scriptures in light of the social and historical world in which they were composed and had early use. I have also found it valuable for my own personal spiritual use in interpretation of scripture. I would recommend it to students at high school level or above, as well as anyone seriously examining the meaning of bible scripture.

The college years are years of questioning and searching and seeking understanding to the deeper meaning of one's life. The College Study Bible from Saint Mary's Press is an excellent resource for these deep questions of faith, offering supportive and definitive articles, maps, illustrations, charts, art and photos to enhance the learning process. Young adults will find this Bible an important companion to their learning and relevent to their lives today. Still in doubt? The St. Mary's Press College Study Bible offers the New American Bible translation of Scripture treasured by our Conference of Catholic Bishops. The articles and support materials offer sound scholarship that supports the faith development and educational goals of students from Catholic, Ecumenical Christian Denominations and Inter-Religious heritages. I have used the SMP College Study Bible in parish, senior high school and university teaching. My students and I find it an excellence text. The use of BCE and CE rather than BC and AD to identify historical eras, is essential. Students need to recognize language that is in virtually all their college textbooks in the humanities. As a person of faith, I find that the designation of BCE and CE can equally mean Before the Christian Era and the Christian Era.

A fantastic Catholic study Bible with all the bells and whistles. It is nice to see St. Mary's release a Bible with informative charts, maps, pictures and fairly extensive commentary. These are all the little extras that publishing houses like Nelson and Zondervan have been putting into their specialty and study Bibles for years. Bonuses include Dei Verbum, a glossary, and full page maps. This work is well assembled and visually pleasing. I have used the Oxford Study Bible for quite awhile now and I am happy to say that I have no reservations in recommending St. Mary's College Study Bible in it's stead.

I bought this Bible because my campus minister introduced it to me. It has great reflection points that are adapted to modern day situations. (ex relationships, carrer, social situations, and much much more I really enjoy the translation. When I have to lector at church, this is the first reference that I go to. I highly recommend this to anyone that is in high school or college that is looking for a legitimate Bible.

This item is great. I received the bible brand new and it was a great value! It is great for college students!

This study Bible is shameful. The authors used the pro-secular movement "BCE & CE" annotation as opposed to the Christian "BC & AD". You will also notice the authors giving legitimacy to Islam.

Everything a college student or young adult could want in a Bible, with a couple of bonuses :) You gain a comprehensive view of the context through illustrations, maps, and footnotes. It has been a wonderful tool during Bible study and personal, scriptural reading. I have owned a number of Bibles, but this one suits so many needs that I can give my others away.

Pretty much what you expect to get with a used book. Creased pages, lots of notes in the book. And there were tons of sticky notes left in the book.

I'm not able to review the content; however, St Mary's Press is a fantastic organization--I use the Catholic Youth Bible all of the time. With that said, that is why I purchased the College Study Bible for a high school grad who will be studying religion at a Catholic college in the fall.
