A Great Read!,

This review is from: The Saint (Pocket Books Tie-In) (Mass Market Paperback)
The author has captured the flavour and style of the original Leslie Charteris' novels. This novelization is far superior to the film. I recommend this to all Saint fans.

When I saw the movie, a whole new world of advendture was opened up. I read the book and was pleased that he wrote material that was not seen in the movie. I recommend this book to everybody! Especially since it made a #1 fan out of me.

I absolutely loved Barer's novel! It is GREAT FUN, very clever, and very well written. Anyone who wants to read a roaring adventure spiced with wit and verve should order this book immediately. I hope Burl Barer writes more books like this -- I enjoyed every minute I spent reading it.

The book is a roller-coaster of intelligence, charm and wit. But then, what else would you expect from Burl Barer. Simon Templar is one of those icons of pop-culture that you just want to invite to dinner and sit and listen to. I can't wait for the next Saint book

The writing was crisp and well done, enough of Charteris in it without bogging down as in "Gee, look how much like Leslie Charteris I can write!" Barer's style is his own; bright and breezy. Some of the "in jokes" were hysterically funny, although I DO wish there had been mention of Roger Moore and Ian Ogilvy. Barer uses "Hugh Sinclair" and "Louis Hayward" as two of Simon's aliases, mentions #7, Upper Berkeley Mews and the Volvo 1800, plus manages to insert the actual titles of many of the Original Novels in a very clever way. I'll give it 9 out of 10! When is the NEXT Burl Barer/Saint novel coming out

This is a well written and well researched book. It is a definite page turner, I just couldn't put the book down! Barer gives such great detail it makes you feel like your really there, experiencing everything. There is danger, deceiving, romance, happiness, and sadness! After reading this book, I am not so sure I want to see the movie because I am afraid they might have destroyed the story. I recommend book to anyone who loves excitement

I loved this. A great story, and I definitely want to read the original works by Leslie Charteris. I almost don't want to see the movie now. I liked the beginning, where we learn what made Simon the Saint. And updated for the 90's. If the movie is even half as good, Hollywood's accomplished something

It's obvious that Barer had fun writing this; unlike the actual movie he's worked in so many elements of those adventures my friend Charteris wrote that it makes this book great fun to read about my adventures before. It's a wonderful improvement on the movie!!
Wonderful Stuff!!

The Saint strikes again,

One gets the feeling that Mr. Barer was enjoyed writing this book. There is intence action and suspence that keeps one glued to the book no matter what your 'suppose' to be doing. This was a fun read. I laughed, I cried and occationally cursed the book thinking the characters would actually hear me. The identities of the 'Saint' were inspired and brought out diversity and complexities of Siimon's character. I give this 2 thumbs up. A good read and worth a second look
